I just dewooded my RM Wagon. Took approx. 3 1/2 hours to strip off once moldings were removed. The car is white with tan interior, so I painted the de-woodied area with DCM. The guys got to experimenting with what to do with the moldings.

First we were going to sandblast and paint them DCM, but one of the guys decided to play with stripping them. He stripped two layers of vinyl material from them, to find the moldings are all brush finished Stainless Steel. He mounted his buffer in a vice, then proceeded to polish each molding to as shiny of a finish as the large lower moldings, which have already been stripped of the rubber bumper a year ago.

The result is that this is going to look so cool next week when we snap the moldings back on. Very Retro, I believe.

Did the trim end up being stainless or aluminum?

the very front piece on my car is plastic. The piece that intersects with the wheel trim and the top stainless piece on the front fender. It makes a sharp v.

Mine are all stainless steel. Look good polished up.

How many hours do you think it took to peel all of the stickers and polish and then replace the trim. I'm thinking of having my local body shop do it and they don't have any idea. The're saying that they won't know till they get into it and find out how much of a pain it is to get the dacals off the trim. I don't want to get in there and then not be able to pay my bill. I'm leaving the large woodgrain section on. I thing it'll look good.
