Why are Roadmaster Wagons so much more than Caprice Wagons? Because of the leather and roof? Just curious, I'm in the market for a wagon and just wondering.

Why is there so many more Wagons for sale on the west coast?

Also, when buying, is there any thing abnormal I need to check for that maybe the wagon has problems with that a normal B body wouldnt?

Thanks

Oh yea, does anyone have the link to the guy that Krylon painted his wagon?

Buicks came with more factory options than the Caprice. Also look down here in FL lots of Buicks (old people like them). Pretty much the same problems as any B body. Let me know if you want one and how much you want to pay condition ect. I run across them all the time.

Like Klez said, old people bought the buicks. They tend to be in better shape than the Caprices for that reason. They may be slow drivers but they are easy on the cars. My wagon came from an old couple that traded it in because they couldn't put a wheelchair lift on the side
And as Klez said the Buicks are usually full of almost every option. The caprices are usually pretty short on options. And they hardly ever have the leather. And Buicks come with Tachs from 91-93
Florida cars are great no salt to eat up the cars and if it's from florida, chances are that the driver was well over 60
Try and stay away from a northern car, or if you look at a northern car go over the undercarriage with a fine tooth comb looking for the rust. Also roads are better down south so southern cars aren't usually all worn out from all of the wonderful potholes that we have to put up with around here. And if you didn't notice. 91-93 cars are alot cheaper than the 94-96 cars with the LT1. If you want to save money, get a 91-93 wagon. However if you plan on modding it for performance in the near future then spend the cash and get the LT1 from 94-96. You'll be happier in the long run. The stock horse power figures are 180 for 91-93 and 260 for 94-96. The torque figures however are very similar. I can't remember off the top of my head exactly what the torque is for the 2 engines. But a highly modded LO5 Will have a hard time keeping up with a stock LT1

Check the spare tire well and rearmost pillar for rusting. Klez is right - most Buicks are pretty much loaded to the hilt by default of being a Buick. A chevy can be just as loaded if properly optioned, but could also be a beer can model with crank wondows, etc. I also am not confident that you could leather out a chevy wagon like you could a buick.

I'm sure others will advise you further.

If you want horsies in an LO5, consider the dual electric fan mod, which is good for almost 10hp, add a flowmaster exhaust, allegedly 5%(5% of 180hp =9hp), and then look at the edelbrok TPI intake system, furthered with a low restriction air intake system(now that the fan shroud is flush with the radiator, thanks to the dual electric fan rig) and top it off with a high energy distributor. Should put you up with an LT1, with a lot lower maintenance costs.

Thats my plan, and Im part way there already!!1

If anyones got input, Lay it on me!!!! -D.
