Dear Community Members,

We are excited to announce that we are live on our new forum platform! We have been working hard over the past few months with a leading design and product firm to deliver a cleaner, faster and more engaging experience for you. We have leveraged XenForo tools and features but added layers of modern design and technology to make the site run faster, smoother and more reliably. All of the valuable content within the community is still here, even though the layout may look different.

A consistent experience across all devices
The site is optimized for all screen sizes, including mobile. All features are available and ready to use on all devices.

Speed and reliability are key
No one should have to wait for information. This site has been built to be much faster and more reliable, period.

Easy to use and navigate
We have made the design clean and simple to focus on the areas the community uses the most and removed clutter.

We have also introduced a number of new and updated features:

New Homepage Experience
Your home page now features the most active forums, trending discussions, featured showcases, and top contributing members. This will help keep you up to date on what’s happening in your community and eventually become a very personalized experience for our members with all the great content you love surfaced effortlessly for you.

Search
We have introduced new search algorithms, powered by an industry-leading AI platform, that will help you find information faster. We plan to roll out new features to continue improving search, and to power many additional areas of the forum.

Due to the volume of content, our search platform may take some time to complete indexing. During this process, you may see a limited number of posts until indexing has been completed. We appreciate your patience.

Popular and New Posts
We have made it easy to navigate directly to the Popular (previously Active Topics) Posts. You can find the Popular section, which includes “New Posts”, by clicking on the trending up arrow in the navigation. Always be up to date!

Bookmarks
Now you can bookmark your favorite discussions! Bookmarks are a handy way to remember and easily find great content or stuff you want to read later.

Following
Following a thread is a great way to stay up-to-date on the topic, and receive alerts or emails when there are new replies. Thread subscriptions and watched threads are now called “Followed”. Your followed threads can be accessed by clicking on your user avatar, and clicking “Following”. We have migrated all of your existing subscriptions into the new platform.

Show off your own collection.
We have introduced “My Showcase” for you to show-off images of your own vehicles, modifications or road trips to the rest of the community and we have migrated in the existing data from our vBulletin Garages. This is your opportunity to upload often and share your passion! Visit Showcase.

Dark Mode
We have introduced Dark Mode. One of our favorite features allows you to access the site with a power-saving, and easier on the eyes dark mode. You can access it through the right-hand drop-down menu.

We also wanted to make it easier for new users to understand the lingo of forums. We have cleaned up various language to more commonly recognized phrases including:

Forum Listing – the forum index, or forum home, is now known as the Forum Listing page. It can be found in the drop-down menu with the 3 dots.

Following - Thread subscriptions, and Watched are now known as Following

Conversations – Private Messages or PMs are now conversations and can be accessed from the user avatar drop-down in the main navigation

Showcase – Showcase is designed for users to "showcase" items/projects through the use of uploaded images, text descriptions and custom content categories. It’s a way to visually and textually provide detailed information on content you wish to share. The showcase would be similar to a catalog, whereas gallery would be like a photo album. Can be accessed from the drop-down menu with the 3 dots

Popular – is the new name for Active Topics. You can also directly navigate to New Posts / Today’s Posts from this button

Account Settings – is the new name for UserCP. The account settings can be found by clicking on your avatar in the top right navigation

Bookmarks – a great place to store valuable content that you may want to reference later.

These are just a few of the great new functions and features to try on the site. Take a tour and look around! If you have any questions, please check out the HELP section for some quick FAQs about the new platform, Help Section

Please let us know what you think about the new experience, your feedback is important to us.

Thank you all for your support during this amazing journey!

I find no such crooked up arrow anywhere on my screen, nor a /pencil'. I see only a number "9" which apparently designates my 'status' (whatever that is).

This is an ENTIRELY senseless and useless waste of screen space. I find nothing gratifying in being scored or 'awarded' any notoriety for this designation. This forum is not a 'race' or 'contest'. Please explain this section's usefulness and rationale for such a non value-added record and taking up valuable homescreen space.

The narrative copy is actually incorrect. This forum is NOT, "....dedicated to Chevy Impala SS owners and enthusiasts...." as stated. It is a forum specifically intended for ONLY for ALL last gen Rear Wheel Drive B-/D- body owners and enthusiasts, and not just those with a premium trim model Chevy Caprice. This is critical to prominently impress in order to saved new members' time who sign up and find themselves frustrated and potentially embarrassed when hoping for help with their later model front wheel drive W- bodies.

Next, why is space wasted bragging on how many posts and members there are? If it directly translates to online financial commissions then ok, but the number of posts and threads are of much less importance than the effectiveness and communication to members on how to successfully search them all.

The rollout narrative confirms earlier suspicions the revised format is intended to enhance phone user's navigation of this forum. Current members who possess the greatest experience and braintrust for the limited run of these 20+ year old dino V8 autos likely find marginal or no value in these changes, and are at risk of deciding that retraining to use the forum is like fixing a problem that didn't exist, and contribute less.

I would like to propose that any revision or portion of new format intended for no other reason than to make this forum look like other popular social media platforms should be revisited for removal. But good luck ironing out the bugs, and hope we all continue to be attracted to this site.

RE: Advanced Search = 'Big problems in River City'

Results show every single individual post containing the search keyword, and not just the overall thread containing the post with the keyword. This is not only uselessly redundant, but vastly multiplies the 'quantity' of search results while at the same time degrading the 'quality' v. just listing the thread where the search word is found, - and then permitting further investigation from there - along with its appropriately framed context - which is critical for so many issues involving follow-on diagnosis.

Right now the word 'opti' brings up only 172 results, but that number includes so many repeat posts of the same thread that net effectiveness of results is a mere fraction of the old method. As more keyword results are added (I read the term is called 'indexed') there will end up 250,000+ "results" for 'opti' for searchers to weed through when it is more valuable both short- and long-term just to get pointed to an applicable thread - and then read from there.

It's not a browser issue, and I agree the new formatting makes the reply appear confusing v. the prior format. Each section of my reply relates to a portion of copy I pasted from the new homepage, with specific questions for clarification and/or follow-up.

It might take some time for the search tools to index the site.

This might help.

How To Quote/MultiQuote
When you see a post that you want to quote, click the reply button on that post. It will automatically add the quoted content to the content area where you can add your reply/comments following the code.

How To Multi-Quote
Step 1: Click the multi-quote icon at the bottom of each post that you want to quote.

Step 2: Scroll down to the text editor where you are going to write your post. Click "Insert Quotes".

Step 3: A small window will pop up for you to verify (or delete) quoted content that will be added to your post. Click "Quote messages".

Final Step: The quoted content will automatically be added to the text editor.

Add your comments and click to post your reply.

Added Notes: You can multi-quote from more than one discussion thread in the forum. You can also simply highlight the part of the text you want to quote. A small popup will allow you to choose the multi-quote option using just the selected content.

@angelo A lot of these functions are still here, see below.

There is no longer a classic view.

Can I still see who is online and what they are looking at?
We are actively working on this additional feature, there are a few workarounds that may help you for now.

If you hover over a users avatar, within a thread, it will show recent activity. Also, there is a small green icon under a member’s avatar within a thread that indicates whether they are online. This setting is controlled by the member.

Let me know if that helps or if you have more questions

To see all users online, click “View All” from either the Top Contributors widget or Community Staff widget in the right sidebar.

This will take you to the Members page. From the left sidebar under Members, click on “Online Members”

How To Find New Posts & Use Filters
From the navigation, near the upper right-hand corner, click on the upward pointing arrow and then select “New Posts” from the drop down menu.

This will open a new page of new posts for you. You can also choose to set special filters or mark all posts read on that same page.

New Signature Tutorial

Your signature can include up to 4 lines, a maximum of 1000 characters and one link. An image counts as a line. Anytime you hit "enter" on your keyboard, it will automatically go to a new line. Images will automatically be resized to 300 x 200 pixels. You can see more options in your settings to collapse signatures, always view full signature, or to not see signatures at all. The choice is yours.

Both guest and members can view signatures.

If a user has their preferences set to the default they will see collapsed signatures as in the example below for them. (They can click to see more.)

If a user has their preferences set to always show expanded signatures it will look like the example below for them. Your image can be clicked to view full size.

If you want to adjust your preferences for signatures you can click on your avatar near the upper right-hand corner of the site and select account settings.

In the left side navigation, you will see an option for preferences. Click it.

Scroll down to content options and select your signature preferences.

If you have more questions, please let us know.

Please note that previous signatures were grandfathered in, so these changes won’t take
effect until they update their signatures.

Setting Your Location
Click on your avatar, near the upper right-hand corner of the site. Select account settings from the drop-down menu.

On the account settings page, scroll down to location.

As you start typing your city, it will offer you choices appear in the drop-down menu. Click to select the one that displays your location.

If you prefer to only display your state, simply type your state, and then click on it in the drop-down menu.

Within discussion threads, you will see your country flag displayed under your username.
User Location Privacy Settings (used as needed)
Click on your avatar and select Account Settings from the drop-down menu.

Your Account Settings page will open with more options. From the left-side navigation bar, select Privacy.

Really like the dark mode, stumbling through the other features.

Is there a way to get this functionality back?

Are you looking for the first new post in a thread or a section?

This might be of help

How To Filter New Posts To Only Display Specific Forum Section.
You can accomplish this by setting a custom default filter on the new posts page.

Step 1 Navigate to the specific forum you want to focus on and click "Follow Forum".
112089

Step 2 From the navigation, near the upper right-hand corner, click on the upward-pointing arrow and then select “New Posts” from the drop-down menu.

This will open a new page of new posts for you. On the new page, click on filters.
112090

Now you can adjust the filters to work for your personal preferences, such as the example above and save it as the default. Make sure to click the "filter" button to save it, at the bottom.

First new post in a thread please. Otherwise in a long thread, you have to scroll through screen after screen and try to figure out what was the last post you read and which ones are new.

Clicking on the "Mar 3, 2013" in picture below takes me to the first post in the thread, not the first NEW post since I last read the thread.

When I click on the "New" button at the top right of the page to refresh the new posts, 8/10 times it takes me to another site as shown below with no way to close it other than the back button. FYI, I'm not a spectrum customer or even in their market.

Is there any way to get rid of the advertisements as well? They seem to be a lot worse/intrusive/more with the new software.
