I'm looking for some good 1.5 DIN receivers. The one that looks the most promising is the Pioneer DEH-P77DH. I really wanted a HU with MP3 capability, but I'm almost positive they don't exist in 1 1/2 DIN. If I'm wrong let me know. BUT the most important feature that I want the head unit to have is to NOT EXTEND THE POWER ANTENNAE DURING CD PLAY. The problem is this isn't a feature anyone ever advertises and few people seem to know. None of the stores around me seem to carry GM sized HU's so I can't really test it out either.

Oh, and I want to get a GM sized HU because don't the single din units have to stick out over an inch? I think it looks like ass. I hear you can cut up some stuff behind their to get them to mount closer, but I don't really want to have to cut up anything.

First, that Pioneer is a good headunit and there is no din1/2 MP3 player.
Second, as far as the power att goes, just put a switch on it. Every deck has a power att or amp turn on lead (blue wire). just splice into that and put a switch and you're in full control.
Lastly, I believe that the fleetwoods have the same dash as the impala's, if so the answer in no it doesnt stick out. You can use the GM 99-3300 kit (metra) and it is a flush mounting kit. This kit is the same as used for cav, lumina. newer s10's, ect.

Depends on teh depth of the deck...

The stock unit out of my 91 Caprice Wagon is about 5.25 inches deep. Most 1 DIN HU's are much deeper, AND most of hte 1.5 DINS are about the RIGHT depth. I just put a Rockford Fosgatte 1DIN HUH in and it does stick out some. Not a TON to look REALLY stupid (in my book) but it does stick out. There is some plastic at the back of the housing (in the dash support) that can be cut out to give a little bit more room but in my car the AC/Heater housing/ducting is right behind it so I would only gain about .5 inches by cutting.

I will most likely replace the Rockfod with the Pioneer 1.5DIN as it looks to be the best 1.5 DIN out there.
