I am getting ready to do a T56 swap for a friend of mine and he is curious as to what he can get for the auto that is coming out. It is a 96 trans with 70K and some change on it, perfect shape, not beaten, car was babied from the previous owner, just driven from the store and back. Any ideas would be great, thanks,

i know they go for a little more than the 95 and previous yrs becuase they have the detachable bell housing..i see most used 4l60s go for as much as 450 so i guess a little more than that?
Cool great information, thanks man

If i remembered when we took my friends 96 transmission off his car...It did not have a detachable belhousing...Its a 2 piece trans....Tailshaft and case...
I bought a 98 with 67000 on it with the converter for $400 up by Sioux Falls 2 weeks ago.
No 96 trans has a 2 piece bell housing
All 94-96 B-body 4L60Es came with the bellhousing cast as one piece with the case. The bolt-on bellhousing was introduced on other 4L60E applications but not the B-body. I have seen enough of them that I can state this unequivocally.

I'd say $400-450 with converter if the pan is clean (and I don't mean you removed the pan and cleaned it!).
