Just another survey. What type of 1/4 mile times are you guys trying to hit this winter?

Well.... I sure would like to get into the 13's. Last winter it was 14.2 and since then I've done 3.73's, BMR bars and a super PCM tune. I'll probably have 1.6 RR's by October. Hopefully all this will combine to shave .3 off my 14.2.

Guess we'll see!

Hey Seth,
I am looking for anything with an 11 in front it. :D :D :D
G
Keith, I hope you hit 11s at ImpalaFest! If the weather is good, then you can do it!

Personally, I'm just trying to NEED to use the helmet I got last year. This is for the SS.

And for the Caprice, I hope to hits 15s this winter.

A little good weather, and you're there Keith...I guarantee it. :D

I'm predicting 3.3 tenths and 4.3 mph with N2O and 3.5 tenths & 2 mph NA on a nice cool evening in the 50s based on my wonderful ET predicting calculator.

13.17 @ 103.6
11.57 @ 118.5

We'll see how good that calculator is :D

After the Vigilante TC and a cold dry night I would be very stoked with a 13.99.

In addition to the mods in my signature, I've now added BMR LCA's and HAL front shocks, so I'm looking for some 13.3's

You go Pat!! :D :D
That car is very fast!!
I will have my new Yank 3800 in Monday then off to the track. I'll let you all know how it feels and works. The tranny will be finished by then so it will be fresh. Hopefully there will be an 11.?? in it then but who knows??

God Bless,
Keith

Good luck Keith!!!! Everybody on this forum wants to see you do it!!!

Hey Seth, It's already been done!

SSmokem, what are you putting together? If all works, what do you expect or hope to run?

Good Luck

hey Boston11,

Here are the changes I did:

Cam, from Comp 304 (210/220) to Comp XTreme (224/236)
Converter, from 12" 2400 to 10" 3800 billet
Tranny, from 4L60E to TH400

My previous best:
NA -- 13.52 @ 101.63
N2O - 11.90 @ 114.25

My new goals:
NA -- 13.17 @ 103.6 (+0.35 & 2mph)
N2O - 11.57 @ 118.5 (+0.33 & 4mph)

But it has to be a 50 deg day for this to happen, same as my previous best. This will be my last attempt with a near stock 350 LT1 block. By near stock, here is what I mean:

Stock block, crank, rods, pistons, bearings, oil pump, oil pan, gaskets, and all bolts
Stock intake manifold, injectors, fuel rails
Stock water pump, optispark
Stock valves, lifters, pushrods, chain, gears
Stock iron heads with mild porting and stock valves with 3 angle job
Aftermarket cam, rockers, springs, valve guides and studs.

I am shooting for a 11.3 but probably have to settle for a 11.4 on a sticky track with temps in the 50's or below. I have been running my car in the 1/8 mile lately and just last night I ran a 7.38 with a 1.64 60ft and a 7.40 with a 1.66 60ft in 80 degree temps and 90 percent humidity. If you factor the 1/8 mile times by 1.55 then I ran a 11.44 and 11.47. I think I am at my limit with this stock short block. If I want to go any faster I will have to build a new engine.
G
Hey Robert,

It's too bad, but you ALWAYS seem to be a step ahead :( As a consolation prize, I can still enjoy being the first stock shortblock Impala in the 11s
Really, though, it would be great if both of us were able to meet our goals!

I agree with you that lo 11s will be stretching the limits of our near stock LT1 blocks, that's why I'm doing no more mods on this motor. If I can get in the 11.5s, I can the rest for a while, and if I can't, well I'm fast enough for now!

I with you George!! I am not going to put any more money into this engine. I will continue to look into suspension, differential replacement, and fuel system upgrades. I still can't make my mind up on what I want to do if this engine blows or I just finally get tired of it and swap it for another setup.
G
Hey George:

Looking back at my time slips I ran an 11.75 @ 116.51 on 4/19/00 on my stock bottom end 350 with a 150 shot of spray. Went to 396 stroker a couple of months later.

Hey Robert:

You are cooking. 11.53 at 118 is not only quick but a lot of mph. (horse power). Incredible.

Hi Keith:

High stall TC may get you there. You are so incredibly close to dipping into the 11's. My money is with you doing it next time out. I think you'll do it despite hot/humid weather down here. If I were you I would be so restless thinking what you will run at Arlington in the next couple of weeks. Good luck. Eventhough, I don't think you will need it.

hey Jorge,

Got you beat by 2 weeks
April 5, 2000! I ran an 11.93 @ 114.44. Boy was I pumped! Never got better than an 11.90 so far, though.

It was also my only win against my buddy Cal's GN who ran a 10.0 @ 135 that pass, he slept at the light (bracket race)......

hey George:

Congrats on your record. Your new set up should rock. Good luck. When is the stroker coming together?
G
Hey George, I bet if you were to get some professional ported aluminum heads, then that engine would be quicker still. The extra flow would help and the reduced weight would help too. I know this costs money that could go toward the 468 though.

Anyway, Jorge, George, Keith, Robert, just reading about the times you guys get with these cars makes so many other B-body owners want to work on their cars more. It is great to be able to communicate with you like this and occasionally meet you.
