Here's what I've done and it ain't enough, just don't know where to go from here.

96 LT1 , got about 80,000 on the bottom end.

1. Ported / Polished Alum heads with 2.02's and 1.60's , Stock Intake matched to heads.

2. Beehive springs with 1.6 RR's

3. LE Cam , 550/550

4. CV mid length Tri-Y headers - 2.5" with H pipe.

5. 30 Lb Red tops

6. PCM by BH Limiter set to 6200

7. AIR / EGR Delete

8. MSD 6AL Box

9. 3.73 Auburn Posi

10. Performance Tranny

11. BBK 58 MM TB w/K&N and 3.5" F Body MAF

12 Vigilante 2600 TC

Looking for that next step. I've got a 100-150 Shot installed but use it just for the track.

Also have a spare LT1 sitting in the shop with thoughts of a stroker, but would like to look at other options first. I'm probably having issues because I've got a 07 C6 that's a 12 second car and maybe I just have a bad frame of reference :)

Let me hear your ideas. Ok, let me set a goal, I just want into the 12's with street tires and NA. Last time I took it to the track It ran 14.4 and that was before the heads and cam. Haven't been back yet, car feels quicker, but not like the vette :)

12's with street tires is gonna be rough......since the more power you make, the less grip you're gonna get. And without a good launch, you'll handicap yourself. You need torque to get that B-body to haul ass......but the neccessary torque will just light the tires up!!! Trying to get 12's with street tires is a silly goal (sorry.....had to be said :( ).

First things first......go to the track with your current set-up and let us know what you run......60' time, 1/8 mile time and 1/4 mile time. What you run at 60' and 1/8 mile......and how close you are to your 1/4 mile goals will play a HUGE part in what people will recommend!

But just to get the ball rollin', I'm gonna say that a 3000+ stall TC and some drag radials will get you awfully close ;) .

I see this alot and wonder, do you really have 2.02 and 1.60's in those heads? If you do, it's killing you. You'll need more torque converter and 'better than" stock tires to run 12's. Good Luck :)

By "street" tires. Do you mean drag radials or stock type tires? You should be in the 12's on drag radials if your heads are decent at all

Been awhile, I foget if this was the ancient worn out RE730s or the new Kuhmo SPTs either way both are 255/50/17.

I do remember this was immediately after driving 150 miles and the slicks and tools were in the trunk.

Point being if you can't run 12s right now with the mod list you have you should be asking yourself WHY?

yup...

at least look at the MPH. It'll give you a very good indication of what the car COULD do with a good launch.

I'd bet my left nut you'd pick up at least a few tenths with a set of AI or LE heads and matching cam if you don't already run them....

Nitrous would be good but im all in favor of keeping it simple, and better heads and a matching cam would be the best way to keep it simple...and fast.

you think? :p

nitrous IS simple. If you have a good N/A tune and the car is running strong, adding 100 hp of nitrous is pretty simple. With the correct jets and conservative timing you can have an easy & reliable extra 100 hp.

He is asking why :)
Dwayne / Mike, he isn't asking why......because he hasn't been to the track with the current set-up.

Basically.......he doesn't know what he'd run......so he has to FIRST make some runs!

Im not downing nitrous at all, but he said he's already got it and it sounds like he wants more N/A power. Like KW said, he really needs to run it first and see where he stands. Not saying nitrous isn't simple either, but no nitrous would be even more simple :p nothin like the hit of spray though!

Yep, had the heads worked locally.

Not real excited about what I'm hearing. Jan CarCraft article talks about how to get 500 Hp out of a LT1 in NA form. Of course they don't go into the B-Body issues.

Huntsville is only a 1/8th track.

Last 1/4 mile was at SSHS08 Atlanta.

Access to a 1/4 mile track close to me is about 75 miles away :(

If it's worth the data , I'd go the 1/8. Is it worth it ?

Since KW suspects I might be wrong why don't you go make a few passes see what it does.
I don't suspect that you're wrong. Go back to my first post and you'll see that I stated he needs a higher stall TC......and drag tires to be close to 12's.

Unlike yourself, Dwayne......I pretty much mean what I say the first time around :p ............. cwm2 !

My bet is that he'll hit mid to high-13's (13.4 to 13.8) right now with a lousy (2.20 second) 60' time.

.........If it's worth the data , I'd go the 1/8. Is it worth it ?
Yes.

Much ado about nothing. I've run 12's NA on street tires with nothing but bolt-on's.
