I want to register NOW! Mountain Madness was fun. I need more of it. Let's have Indy early!

OK, but I really do want to get registered and start anticipating the great times at the 2006 ISSCA Nats.

Let us know ASAP.
thanks,

Me too! I hope to drive into the host hotel on opening night this time. :D

Karl - great to see you again. Congrats on your Super Natural win!
G
Terry, and good to see you again too. Congrats on your amazing 1st place in POCONO road course Mod class. what was your lap time?
Karl

Karl;
Terry did a 1:00:XX lap, a C-Hair over a minute.

Terry;
Pretty ironic that you got towed in and the KK cruised in and out, eh?

For those of us who have annual 4th of July plans, can we at least make the racing stuff later in the week for Indy?

Thanks, Karl. My lap was 1.00.137
I would have had a sub-60 second lap if I had not blown the hairpin. I braked too late and missed the apex of the slowest corner on the track by a full car length. I probably left at least another 1/2 to 3/4 second out there. I know - woulda, coulda, shoulda. It was a happy ending for me regardless of the numbers.

Yes it is. But if I only had to drive as far as you did, mine woulda cruised in too. It would not have crapped out until the way home (which woulda been MUCH worse). That's what I get for teasing you about the KK's reliability, huh?

me too!! i'm ready to register now and get my plans down before something else comes up and i forget about 2006 nats.

Like we'd let you forget!!! ;)

I think 2006 will be an INCREDIBLE opportunity to put the East Coast vs. West Coast crap to bed (translation for dense up state NY'r's (DW) ;) : bring the metal and lay it to their scrawny lil wannabe race cars) and have everyone show for a wonderful event!!

Who else is in?
G
Do we have a host hotel or a date picked out yet?

The dates are July 4-8 but I don't believe that the hotel has been chosen yet.
G
hmm I might actually be able to come to this.

hmmm...
Is this the same Boilermaker that was asking for an ECTM sticker for his car at MM??
G
And what, exactly, is Gene talking about re: East Coast v West Coast? I haven't heard shiit about that since before Vegas, which IIRC was June of 2004, or 13 months ago.

WTF? Get off the crack pipe Gene!

(besides, everyone knows east coast rules!)

As I understand it, we will have IRP for drag racing and Putnam Park for the road course. :D

July 4th through the 8th?

I guess I can say now, Clear Image wont be going or participating in the Nationals AGAIN!

As much as ISSCA would like the national event to be a "family" event, it just isn't. It is a guy event! My wife and kids couldn't care less about it. Maybe when the boys are older, but not now. I'll be spending the 4th with my family next year as I have done for the last 36 years.

Oh well, maybe I'll be able to attend in 2007. But unless ISSCA takes note and actually listens to what the vendors want/need/expect, I would just be going as a member/owner and not as a vendor anyways.

Really depends on your family. My two kids (2 and 5) love being around the cars. Mention a car show and they want to go. I will admit that there are other places my wife would rather spend her vacation. Everyone can't be married to Mrs. SSONIC ;)
G
KC,
Great to finally meet you. I know I won't piss you off any more on the forum, you made me look like a midget! I stood between you and Mike Kender at one point and I felt like I was back in 3rd grade!

My kids had a GREAT time at MM. My wife didn't get to enjoy it as much since she had to kind of follow the kids around and keep an eye on them, especially my 3 1/2 year old daughter.

My suggestion for the future:
We need to loosely organize all the families coming and have a picnic area or something like that at the events. Otherwise it sucks because drag racing, autocross, car shows, and road racing make for long hot days out in the sun.

I think it will be a stretch for me to get La Famiglia out to Indy next year, but my sons are begging so you never know...
G
hey BK, my wife and i were discussing the lack of family/kid friendly activities on the way home. there's no reason we can't plan to have a kiddie corral at some of the all day events with a cooler/drinks/kid needs with the exception ofthe fact some folks just don't get it. there were some folks who went out of their way to make sure the families were comfortable/entertained/acknowledged. there were also some folks (unbeknownst to them, i sure) who were overheard wondering why they were there, caught pointing and saying things under their breath, or generally treating them like they had no idea what was going on or what the event was about. i figured i'd get the ear of DW, Jose, Gerry and Gene at SSHS5 and discuss some ideas as i didn't want to be an ass at the event. however i will NOT tolerate some things i swallowed this time around next year with out some noise being made.
back to the subject of a more family event, we were thinking of a design your impala contest, just coloring for the younger set. maybe something like a pinewood derby or those rubberband balsa wood rocket races and give the kids an opportunity to win a little trophy or something. make them feel more part of the event.
perhaps a luncheon or organized spa party for the wives. i have several other ideas to kick around as well. even tho it's the 4th, depending on how my grandmother is doing, we are still tentatively scheduling it for indy.
rock on, rus
