The 2006 ISSCA Nationals are scheduled for July 4-8, 2006.
I think its cool that the event will be in Indy.
Personally, I will try to make the date, but then
again, I don't have a wife/kids etc. who may want
to do other things on the 4th of July week.

So it's a deal, I'll get a team full of old fat wise guys and we'll destroy the lap times of the young and dumb team.
Let's see, I get to pick my team...Les Brown team capt. Bob Fandetti, Gary Foreman, Mike Preszler, ...all the road racing guys I can think of right now.

Team OldFatWise
vs
Team YoungAndDumb

Keith, you wanna head up the team of young'ins?

karl
sounds like a good challenge......i'm a karting madman....if you need a dumb youngin' count me in :D

All,

IndipalaSS is proud to host the 2006 ISSCA Nationals.

We'll all be there and hope you can make it as well.

Indy is a great city and has lots to offer everyone, families too!

The venues are all top notch. The curves of Putnam Park and the historic track at Indianapolis Raceway Park are waiting for YOU!

Check out the web sites to see just how busy (and GREAT!) these facilities are.

Putnam Park

Getting any available combination of dates on their schedules from June - August took considerable time and effort, not to mention a little "politicking." We appreciate our member’s efforts in pulling the schedule together and making the proposal to ISSCA.

We can't think of a better way to spend an Independence Day holiday in America, than joining our fellow enthusiasts in a lap around the greatest racetrack in the world, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the 500, and enjoying the (To Be Named) 2006 Impala Super Sport Club of America Nationals in Indy.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Regards, DB

Thanks David, I am very much looking forward to this event!!

Mikey, it'll be fun to race you. Go easy on us over-the-hill types during our kart race. Maybe give us a lap or two head start eh? These old bones you know. So it's a deal. We'll find a good karting place and all take over for 3 or 4 hours.

I think having the Nationals in Indy is going to be fun, but having the Nationals around the 4th-o-July is going to be great! That just shouts bring the family and hunker down for good eating and a great show! I hope there will be more thought from the BoD and the regional folks to warm up even more family events. I know my wife will not want to hang out "all day" at a car event, but give her a few hours out on the town with a pick and choose agenda and I see a smile on her face. :D
I hope we are at a hotel with a "XXXLARGE" pool and picnic area!

The 2006 decision was made before I joined the BOD, but, personally, once I really thought about all the opinions and possible scenarioes for the 2006 Nats, I've come to the conclusion that the July scheduling is pure genius.

Scheduling conflicts? The only real conflicts I've experienced going to almost every major Impala event last year were when things were on the SAME DAYS. If you REALLY wanna go, you'll find a way. I did. Enjoyed Daytona. Showed at IndipalaSS Spring Fling. I went to Carlisle. I made Vegas. I showed at Herdfest (and blew the tranny racing at Byron). I went to ImpalaFeSSt. Showed at the Car Craft Summer Nats. Attended 10 open car shows. Managed to make and race in the majority of the ECIRS races. Schedule?

If you've got a DIRECT conflict, I know exactly how ya feel, hate it, we'll miss ya, catch ya on the flip-flop.
If ya ain't, quitcha whinin and bring yourself and the family on over to INDY!!!!
I'll be heading out at the end of the week for LISST Drag Day, if anyone wants to tag along (i.e. thinks they can keep up).

Especially for us small town folks, a BIG CITY 4th of July is great!! Lots of things happenin. Lots of places to go (has anyone here ever seen Bud Wolf's Chevy Collection? ). Got a feeling there will be loads of stuff planned for "non-participants" (Dodie, I'm volunteerin to help with this planning). Plus they've got the big time sponsors that spend hundreds of thousands for the firework shows. :D

Racin? Karts? I'm in. How bout we find out where and how much for some serious karts on a serious track? Anyone up? Or just keep it at the family park?

As a Region 8 Director and founding officer of IndipalaSS (the local Indy chartered club), I couldn't be prouder to invite you to consider spending your holiday in Indy next year!

The ISSCA BOD has heard you about family events! We're going to make every effort to arrange the schedule to allow for some fun family entertainment, including a possible BBQ on the 4th. We're also going to do everything we can to reserve a special viewing parking lot for the ISSCA participants in downtown Indy for the big July 4th fireworks show. This is 30 minutes of really great fireworks set to music and shot off of one of the tallest buildings in the city.

That combined with the chance to drag race at the legendary Indianapolis Raceway Park (home of the US Nationals for over 50 years), road race at the awesome Putnam Park Road Course (ask Doc Dougherty of Ohio about this one), and hopefully make a lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway should make for an event to remember!!!

Ask for vacation time now! Hold the dates!

Yup, I could go for some of them there 55-60hp 125cc shifter Karts on the ROAD COURSE  Somehow I think the youngins will tackle that best! Back when I was a young Krazy Keef, we built an all chromoly shifter kart with a wrecked liquid cooled '93 KX-500 motor on it
Twin hydraulic disc brakes, biggest tire we could find (for a kart) 5 speed trans... Talk about white Knuckles. If anyone was crazy enough, I'd be willing to say the thing would do damn close to 185...thats if ya found a parking lot big enough

This briggs and stratton bs is for the amateurs!

oh i'm in on that. that would be some kewl stuff right there. either way, shifters or B/S slowpokes.....doesn't matter to me. we could even build some kind of crazy trophy made out of kart parts or something.
G
I'd be in on the karts too. At 235, I'd have a slight weight disadvantage, but I'm sure that I can make up for it by cheating. ;)

There is a cool track on Indy's north side. Indoor with ramps that make it a multi-level course. Pat Gish and I raced there 2 years ago. Fun stuff. He's a good driver. Hey, we could wager on the drags, road course, auto-x and CARTS .
G
Terry; Gonna have the weight advantage. Does anyone know if Khumo makes the 710 in go kart sizes???

Umm.. you'll have to catch me to put me into the wall. Of course you might have a shot at me for a split second when I lap you.
