With my sprints in, and 929's in, the shock only has about a 1.5" of travel left, not very much at all. I have heard many times people say these will work with the rear sprint springs, but to me the shock is just about bottomed out. I wonder what should I do now. Its aggravating to spend 116 on rear shocks that it looks like I may not be able to use.

Suggestions? Those of you who are running sprints and 929's what does your travel look like??

How far are you from the pinion snubber...granted in a situation when you are turning and hit a bump things will be different...but I'm just curious.

I have Sprints on the rear of my car with the 0929 Bilsteins. The car handles just fine, and the shocks are doing their job. If you're concerned about the shocks bottoming out, you could weld extensions onto the lower shock mounts. I've never seen it done, but I don't see why it's not a damn good idea... you could extend the lower mounts just far enough so that the axle doesn't drop down enough for the springs to pop out of the upper pockets :cool:

Drive close enough to a sewer cover or something and you'll snap your extended shock mount off and take the shock out with it.

Wow, some replies, one from a guru and one from a top dog. I am honored!


I just noticed my axle bump stops had about 3" clearance (eyeballing it) I haven't been under the car since I did the install. But I definetily need to do something with it, the shocks are too close to being rammed.

I don't think i want to go the shock extension route, for one what Mike said and another I don't want the weight of the axle hanging on the shocks, not to mention its more of a pain to do.
Defiant, I wonder how much shock travel you have since you got the same springs? I find it hard to understand how your shocks are ok after seeing how close to bottoming out mine are.

I talked to Mike Pung at Airlift and found out what bags (airlift 1000) would work on my car so I got them ordered. He said there is no problem in actually using the bags to lift the car up an inch or so. He does it on one of his own cars. So with that I will feel better and see what happens.

BTW, Mike Pung is a real nice guy to talk to and seems to be honest to deal with.
