cool! I still have my 87 Fleetwood Brougham!(although engineless..)

Hey Hoop,

Would you have any interest in an 85 RWD Fleetwood coupe. It needs some work but the engine is brand new and the tranny has been totaly rebuilt. Also has the front bumper from a 91 Fleetwood. Brand New from GM. $1000 piece. Asking $3000.
G
ahhh! dont tempt me! right now I'm looking at a 1981 Fleetwood Brougham Coupe with the 8-6-4 engine.. needs a new back bumper.. other then that it ran quite nice
but what I really need is a new driver side real tail light for my 87. someone backed up into it not that long ago, and I cant seem to find one anywhere.

Hoop,

First. DO NOT! buy an 8-6-4!!! They'er crap. You want to talk about experiments that escaped the lab. That's it. It may run ok now but that's one that likes to rear it's ugly head down the road. If your not interested I'm probably just gona pull the engine and scrap the rest of the car so if you need anything as far as bumpers or lights let me now and I'll be glad to pull them off and sell them to you cheap.
G
if I bought it, I would quickly swap in a 500 using the bolts 'n stuff from the 6.0.. I would run it til it died..
how does the back drives side door light / back bumper look?

Jordan,

If your talking about the rear interior reading lamp. I have both in good shape. If it's the one that's actually in the door I don't have it. I guted the intier interior. The rear bumper is in great shape. Will polish up real nice. The ruber strip in the midlle is all right. the white strip down the center is all most worn off. you could repaint it real easy. The lens' are not cracked but could use a polish as well. I have new emblems from a late 80 Eldo thet look sweet. They just need to be glued on. Make me an offer.
G
wow.. didnt mean to be kinda confusing with that light thing. The one I need is the one on the back end of the car, that drivers side taillamp. someone backed up into mine awhile ago and I really could never find a replacement.
G
Hoop,

...and other V-864 haters...

The V-864 is NOT crap!

Like any engine, you have to maintain it properly. I sold my 81 Fleetwood equipped with the V-864 in 1998 with 330,000 original miles. The ONLY thing that I ever changed on the motor was the water pump and the valve cover gaskets.

The 81's had the first on board diagnostic computer for GM as well as a BACKUP analog computer that even today's cards don't have. It was ahead of its time and scared people...simple as that.

QUICK HINT: If you want to disable the V-864 system, pull the 2 wire electrical plug from the transmission on the drivers side. I wired in a switch to this circuit to control it from the dash.

Now for some real news if you hated V-864's! The new pickups from GMC and Chevy WILL have the same system installed on them. They are now calling it DOD "Displacement on Demand".
