What a coinky-dink. My drivers side blade won't stay put and it's raining today; can't go to work until I fix it.

I thought the wiper arms were 22" for both sides. By chance do you know if these parts are still sold at the dealers?

GMPartsgiant, GMPartsdirect & RMSAuto are showing these available. I'm not sure if a local $tealership will have them in stock, but it's worth a shot.

You're sure about the 20" for the passenger side? Not 21"?

Why the shorter length, given the original spec is 22" for both sides?

Many in this thread have found the 20" blade with this mod to fit better on the RH side. 22" is still good on the LH. Allows u to bring that side down a tad lower. Not a huge diff though.

You've got me convinced. I found a GM dealer close by who has a set, and will sell them for $50 apiece. I need them today so I'll pay the extra $30.

I installed the new arms with the Bosch Icon blades (unfortunately, I got a 21" for the passenger side by mistake, but that isn't the problem).

For the record, LH is driver side and RH is passenger side, correct? I can be a** backwards, sometimes.

I put the angled arm on the DS, but switched it to the passenger side. The hood kept hitting it. There seemed to be a lot of clearance between the windshield and the angled arm when it was on the DS; the only way I could get it so the hood would clear was to set it higher up on the windshield and that's too high - it looks like it's on the intermittent setting.

After the switch, there were no problems with clearance for the hood. However, the arm sweep went well off the windshield on the drivers side. I know I got the correct part numbers. I put a 22" blade on the drivers side and a 21" on the passenger side. As I said in the beginning, I got the 21" by mistake, but that shouldn't affect the sweep or height problems I'm having on the drivers side.

Any thoughts? Or in a word, HELP!

Just a quick reply as I'm away from my ride, but to quickly answer your rh and lh question: yes the driver's side is the LH. Always think of it as if your sitting in the driver's seat. Not looking at the engine bay while the hood is open.

The bent arm needs to be on the LH (drivers) side. That sounds like why your arm is going off the windshield. The bent arm will sit higher off the windshield than the factory arm. Sounds like you might not have had the arm tightened down good enough (my assumption). I will go out and take a pic of mine.

The drivers side arm may be VERY CAREFULLY bent to allow it to park nearer the bottom and to enhance appearance and correct uneveness. Do it with the wiper blade removed. I used 2 small blocks of wood for protection with a vise grips. Bend a very little at a time and hold the arm so it does not twist on the shaft wrecking the shaft knurling and distorting the arm geometry.

BTW - 20" on the passenger side is best.

Also - still looking for a similar setup for the wagon rear - see my previous thread in wagon section.

While they may look nice, they still use the sloppy pin mount. The intent and purpose of this thread was to offer a better alternative than stock - the "J" hook mount system.

Can someone explain the steps needed to remove stock wiper blades in order to peform this mod ? I have a stock 1996 impala , and from what I can see there is a nut holding arm in place , after nut is removed the wiper arm seems stuck , very difficult to remove with my hand is there a special tool everyone is using ?

I pried it off with a small screwdriver. I kept moving the screwdriver around the circle and pried a little each time.
