Hey guys. as most a lot of you know, i have 2" drop spindles in the front of my car (sorry i havent gotten pics up yet, A LOT of people have asked me for pics of the 96 with the spindles on) but i'll get em as soon as i get to wash the car.
My question is, the back is kinda high now. i have a friend who has a 96 ws6 who has his stock springs and shocks free for me to use if i want. how much would it drop if i put ws6 springs in the back? should i just stay with my stock shocks? i can also just use his stock shocks on all four corners if i want to. what should i do?

-ws6 springs in the rear
-ws6 springs and shocks in the rear
-ws6 springs on rear, shocks all around

(oh ps.... BAGS ARE COMIN SOONER THAN I THOUGHT!!!)

if you think about this it wont work.

Springs from a Fbody are going to be concideribly weaker then your springs you have right now because they were designed for use on a 800lb lighter car.

If it doesnt work, i wont use them. the reason i ask is because he offered, plus there are a number of impalas around my city, i dont think they're on the forum though, who use go to this one guy who puts f-body springs in the back of their cars and cuts a coil off the front for like 150. cheap drop. i rode in one of the cars and it rides fine. kinda bouncy i think cause of the cut springs but i thought if i put proper shocks in and didnt cut any coils, it would be fine. Their bouncy because the springs wern't designed to support the extra weight of the B-body.

Get a set of Suspension Tech rears from shox.com and put them in. Nice 2" drop. Or Sprint springs rears. 3" drop.

personally... free is still free... it takes 3 minutes to put springs in the rear, and 6 minutes to put shocks in... try it. if it sucks, then spend the money.. like you said, you are bagging it sooner than thought, so it will kinda defeat the purpose to spend 200 bux on springs and/or shocks just to have em for a month. If you ahve first hand experience witht eh setup (riding in a car withthe setup) and you think its bearable for a month, then try it.

now if the guy was charging you 200$ vrs spending 200 bux on the 'right' setup, then i would say, Do the right setup, but its Free... and temporary.

Crispix, always an optimist just like me. i was gonna try to put em on anyway just to see how they felt cause i know springs in the back is a nothing job. if i try em, should i put the ws6 shocks in there or keep my ss shocks? i guess that was the real question i should have asked in the beginning because i know imma try it anyway.

i think you should try it... with and with out. its seriously a 10 minute job, just a 17mm 19mm or a 21mm (i did this less than 48hrs ago, but i did alot less than 48 hrs ago too) and the same thing on the other side. i dont know much about the WS6 shocks or what length they are supposed to run at. the weight thing is touchy, i personally feel that is 800 lbs on a car will make or break a shock, then thats like saying Dont put speakers, or 3 other people in your car. i think when it comes down to it, your gonna be trying to 'personal taste' the final result. Hell i drove around a nissan ex cab with NO shocks and riding on bumpstops in front, a cnotch in the rear with no shocks all the way to seattle and back. It was horible, i hated it, but it worked.

plus, a real crappy ride for a month (in worst case) will just make you appreciate your bags more when you get them...

First it's $150 job just to cut and install. Then, your bags are coming in a month. It's all fine with me. If it is soon, do what you want. If not, do the right thing.

Oh, no way i'm paying that guy to cut my springs and install the ones in the rear. thats what some other impala guys have done around my area.
I'm getting free springs off my friend's 96 WS6 plus shocks if i want and i'm gonna install it my self for sure. I guess i'll try and see what happens

Springs : might get the ride height, but will NOT have the load capacity. In summary, it'll probably handle like $h!t.

Shocks : you're better off with what you have on the car now.

Personally, even if I got those parts for FREE, I'd just wait till you bag it.

My 2 cents is that it's REALLY REALLY unsafe to do that, and I hope you don't wind up getting into an accident and trying to explain to the insurance that it happened because you put springs for a light f-body into a heavy b-body and therefore it was unsafe to drive.
