The shifter on my 96 keeps in getting stuck and I'm having a hard time shifting out of park, specially if the wife is driving the car, she complaints that the car won't shift out of park.

Don't need the console or cable, just the shifter.

I know I have the shifter assembly sitting in storage from my T56 swap, shifted like butter. Give me the weekend to get up there and double check condition.

Its probably not the shifter itself. The brake interlock is probably malfunctioning which is actuated by a cable.
All you have to do is take the console off and disconect the interlock cable from the shifter.

Nab -

I'm going to try that first, but I still want to keep a shifter in my collection of parts for this cars, knowing how difficult it can be finding parts.

Thanks for the heads up man.

Wow I completely forgot about this, do you still need a shifter assembly? I have two and a 6speed car now. Let me know, will post pics.

They are both in good condition, the one has a tiny bit of surface rust and because I'm weird that's probably the one I will sell, the other I am going to hoard for no reason.

WTB OEM Transmission Oil Cooler

Hey fellas - Need to get my hands on an transmission cooler for the Impala, I do have the one that came with the car but the existing tranny started to slip a little, since I'm installing a new engine and trans, I don't want to ruin the new trans with metal shaving if there is any within that cooler.

I tried finding someone to clean/flush it for me, but I can't seem to find a shop that will be willing to do it yet.

I know that you are going to tell me to go buy an aftermarket one, which I know I can, but I want to keep it OG and run it in the same location and use the same bracket and bolts, I know it sounds dumb, but that's how I want to run it. So if you have one let me know. NOS will be better just in case you have one.

Thanks.

You could use a product like this and just flush it yourself. Maybe run some clean fluid thru it first and some compressed air to help, followed with the cooler clean.

The problem with something used is tou really don't know the history of that. Not sure if factory replacements are still available. The lines should also be flushed and this could do it for you.

I have a spare that I'm keeping, but the Trans cooler is usually an easier find at the JY than the oil cooler. A lot of the sedans, RMs and wagons used the same Trans cooler setup.

OP

just take it off and clean it. you can buy cleaner. also flush the lines from tranny to cooler if your old tranny puked putting crap in the entire system.

even if you find a used one....clean it

Thanks for the Super Fast Payment. They are already boxed up and on their way out the door. If you check out our other auctions you will get a fair idea of what we currently have in stock and you can PM me any questions you may have. Thanks.
