I’m looking to purchase an AC Blower Motor Fan for my 96 Impala.
This will be the second used one I will have put in, the last one I only got two years of service out of, and today it died.
I live in Southern California and the summers are brutal here so the fans get used...
I’m looking for as low of a mileage replacement motor that I can find, or one that has come from a more temperate climate that may have not gotten used as frequently.
I’m far from rich, but I understand these original motors are in short supply, and the prices associated with ones in the condition I am looking for. I am willing to pay a fair market price for the higher quality that I seek.
I would like to purchase an ‘excellent’ to ‘like new’ replacement Fan if at all possible, or a fan with as little use on it as I can get since I don’t want to do this again in another 2 years.
Please respond if you have one of these units and your asking price..
Pics would make my choice to purchase much easier.
Thank you all for your time and help!

If you truely are interested in a stock/GM replacement, I can help you out, as I plan on doing a junkyard run today for something on my '98 Tahoe.

The J/Y I goto has a few B-bodies I can choose from (I'll PM you the details, and you can do an inventory search, with mileage) and you can tell me specifically what vehicle you would like me to choose, or I can just chose the best low-mileage vehicle for the donor.

LMK What you'd like to do...I'm thinking of departing approximately mid-morning C.S.T., and it'll take me 45 minutes to drive there.

I have a couple of fans, but I have no idea how many miles were on the cars. I also have a motor with a broken squirrel cage that I will sell cheap. If you can get your squirrel cage off, and put it on the motor it will be usable.

The cars here usually have between 125K, and 250K miles on them.

Make sure the squirrel cage is black. Some cars have aftermarket fans installed, and the squirrel cage is white. The white fans move far less air than the OEM units.

I get $65 shipped for a fan.

I would take $30 shipped for the broken one. A piece of string and some superglue may fix the squirrel cage.

I am not planning to go to the junk yard again until Thursday the 4th.

I was so truly interested that I purchased one last night I found from a totaled 96 Cadillac that had 91k on it.
I’m sorry that I’m just now checking my messages. I am a night person due to my work schedule.
Please do not make the trip purely on my account, but if you do go. I’m also looking for an antenna, Gray interior front driver door parts and panels.
I hope this message found you in time so as not to have caused you any inconvenience.

Tell you what. If you do find a blower motor in ‘A’ class part condition (ie under 75k) or just looks relatively close to brand new.
Grab it...
I’ll buy it anyway as a backup since these things are getting harder to find, especially ones in good to excellent condition.
I’ve had the original out, back in, out to replace, replacement used one in, and now I get to do the R&R again. This is not a fun job so I’m seriously only interested in purchasing class ‘A’ parts for anything I’m replacing. Especially for this job...
I do appreciate your immediate response and vigor to help me find a replacement, if you ever come across parts that are out of low mileage totals or just in excellent condition pm me, I have a list of parts I would love to find...
I’m currently also restoring my Gray front drivers door, bezels, panels, arm rest, etc.
Thank you for your time and energy...
I appreciate it...

Thank you for looking into the blower fan, I did manage to find one off of a wrecked Caprice with 90k on it.
Paid $75 shipping included for a decent working Blower Fan that I installed last week.
Thank you for doing that, and just as a heads up, that’s a part that, ACDelco (or anyone else for that matter) who makes an exact replacement for, will not work as well as the factory original motors.
If you want your B Body Blower Fan to work like original equipment, you HAVE to replace it with a used one.
All the replacement fans come with a Squirrel Cage that is 3/4” shorter than the factory unit, making them blow about half the air as stock.
So the Blower Motors will always be in high demand for years to come.
Thank you for your time and effort as I do appreciate it very much.

The squirrel cage is about 3/8" shorter, not 3/4", but still allows recycling of incoming air.

I believe you are correct there Fred. Thank you for correcting me on that, I just remembered the 3 I guess when I measured the difference between the ACDelco and the original, it was about a year ago that I measured it.
Point remains. The replacement motors out there do not perform anywhere near what the originals do.
It’s not about a bigger cage, it’s about the way the ducting around the fan is configured.
That 3/8” (Thank You) occurs at the top where the original fan almost touches the duct (1/4”gap), the aftermarket replacement ones that are usually white in color, leave about 3/4” gap right where the air is leaving the duct into the fan creating turbulence and the recycling of air, that decreases the fan output almost to half that of the original blower motors.
But if you want to imply to other people who are considering replacing these motors with aftermarket ones is a good idea, or that it’s ok is something I can’t support...
It’s a big difference from personal experience.
Do you still have just the motor component for sale ? I’ll buy that from you as a backup.
I live in the Palm Springs area of SoCal and when your A/C stops working, it is almost life and death situation LOL 😝
Thanks Fred...

My intentions were to get you more business from other B Body owners thinking of replacing their fans with aftermarket ones...
To all of you B Body owners out there;
***DON’T DO IT****
Buy a used one from Fred here, he’s an excellent seller, or somewhere else, but don’t waste your money on the aftermarket ones...
You will be disappointed...

I found one from a wrecked 95 Caprice w/ 90k on it for $75 shipped.
Thank you all for the help and offers.
And make sure you salvage these little suckers whenever you find a wreck with like new interiors.

I’m in the need of a rear drivers side door power regulator.
If you come across one in excellent condition let me know.
I’ll be happy to buy it.
Thank you
