ok, i finally got my bitwriter as i was having some odd ball problems with programming it via valet button and i read and then zapped to put it back to default settings but failed to read that it also removes all transmitters as well

so right now i can't seem to figure out how to add the transmitter to the alarm as i tried the transmitter/receiver learn routine via valet button and not getting any luck

Read it again, it tells you to have however many transmitters and the last thing on the bit writer before you program says something about transmitter 0, 1, or 2.

I don't have mine here at work right now, or I would tell ya.

BUT you can add remotes with just the valet button.

it did say 1 transmitter before i zapped it and now it just says 0.

i just read in another forum that i have to press the valet button 9 times then hold it till 8 chirps go off and then press lock on the remote while the key is set to on position.

is this correct?

well i tried it again by what the manual says and what the other forums mentioned tho i believe that was meant for 790xv not the 791xv but in either case i'm still getting no reply from the alarm

i also tried unplugging the antenna for a while and taking out the battery from the remote and no luck with that either tho now the remote beeps when it can't connect to the alarm which it didn't do before unplugging the antenna.

anyone got any suggestions? as of right now, i got an appointment on monday for the guys that did my audio system to redo my alarm (they didn't do it in the first place so if they redo it, it will be under their warranty to say) and i would really like to avoid this if possible.

OK.....

1) open driver's door

2) turn key on

3)Press and release valet button 1 time
If you hear 1 long chrip then it is blocked, and needs to be unlocked w/ Bitwriter

4) Press and HOLD valet button

5) Press and release lock button on transmitter 1
you should here 1 chirp to confirm

6) Press and release lock button on transmitter 2
also 1 chirp to confirm

7) release valet button

8) turn off key, and put on roof of car

get out of car, close doors, and try transmitters.

When all of this is working, come back here and we can start changin features w/ bit writer.......

well i did what you said and still nothing but the remote just beeping and the car doors locking when the key is set to on

its like it doesn't see the valet button or something

When you do steps 1,2,&3, do you get a chirp at all??

If so, then the valet button is working. 1 short chirp means you can continue w/ steps 4 and on.....

I long chirp means you have blocked transmitter programming with the BitWriter......... plug it in, and turn off the blocking. Then start whole process over.


If not then the valet button is not working, replace and try again.

Maybe I should be asking........ has the alarm ever worked completely properly??? Or is this a new install and you were changing the programming, and lost them????

i didn't get a chirp at all during those steps so i'm guessing there something up with the valet button so i'll check that out in a while.

the alarm when it was installed worked fine untill when i got the proximity sensor and window module in that i noticed certain things weren't right like the car door would normally lock when i start it and when doing the remote start it doesn't tell me when the car would turn off.

i told the shop guy who installed the proximity sensor and window module about this and he tried setting the alarm to do the locking and such but said that it seems the alarm didn't want to save the settings so that when i thought that the installer might've locked it so i went ahead and bought the bitwriter to put everything back to default and the you know now

well i had no luck so i let the shop redo the alarm which turns out were some lose connections and a mess in the wiring of the alarm so now everything works as it should and even to got program it for auto arm which i couldn't do before heh.

one thing i wondered about if it was true that 791xv has a defrost option?
