95 Chevy Impala SS - Fuel Pump Wire Harness?

ALL,

I have dropped the tank which found out my pump was burn out and did not have no screen(strainer). So, I replaced the pump, strainer and filter and it was not stay on.

My mechanic is saying that my wiring harness is bad but I am clueless on the several:
1. What is the part #?
2. Which harness do I need?
3. Where can I get the part from (Advance Auto, Rock Auto, Auto Zone)

Please help cause my B-Body has been down for weeks now---sad to see it under the carport not working.

When you say your "mechanic" said the harness is bad, what?....he couldn't get this and complete the job while it was apart? are you doing this yourself now?

EDIT - I just noticed that you did say YOU dropped the tank already. :>) I was confused when you mentioned your mechanic....

In any case, its really not a difficult job to do once you drop the tank. Be sure to check this thread for info on what typically happens to not only the harness but also the connector pins of the sending unit.

If you are not sure of whats going on in there or looking to do this yourself, it will give you a good idea of what you're up against. there is also a good thread on "how to replace your Fuel Pump" listed here somewhere if you "Search" for it.

If you are staying with the stock pump, you should be able to pickup a "in tank" harness from a place like NAPA. there are also some online options out there if you look and also some aftermarket sources if you choose to go with a differnt brand pump.

Correction

My mechanic did all the work--he is saying that I need a 3-Pin connector--square on one end and flat on the other. Call the dealership and looked it up by VIN and the part number 12101930

Just make sure that you and your mechanic are well aware of the "toasty" condition that those metal pins on the Bulkhead connector can get. A new harness wont do much good if the terminals aren't clean. As the one thread shows, some prefer to solder the wires to the pins.
