Ouch....Glad you are OK and cant believe your Air Bags did not deploy. The AB impact sensor is located right there on the Hood Latch Support. I was in a very similar Deer incident in my Caprice back in 2009.
This thread peaked my interest cause I have had a LOT of bad luck lately when it comes to those Furry F'ers.
We are pretty much down to one running car (even that had a Deer incident recently) now but just got the Caprice back together last night enough that I can drive it with a busted hood and fender that it got in an accident back in August this year with a Truck. Had to get it on the road even though I have no money for the parts I need to fix it yet....but she runs fine.
So, this may make you feel a little better and how my (bad) luck goes. As I mentioned, crashed the Caprice in august. I still had my hoopty ('92 Buick Regal - White car in the background of 1st pic that was taken back in '09 of the Caprice crash) and the wife had her 2004 Grand Prix. Sold the hoopty 'bout 6 months ago cause I picked up another Hoopty in much better shape....'03 Malibu with 48K. About 3 weeks ago coming into work at 6:15, dark as hell and BAM, hit a Deer in the Malibu on the Driver Front Fender. Didn't see it til it was already about to get hit. The car was in zero fender benders before but now the Fender is Toast and it got pushed into the door which now has minor damage but is drivable.
Just last week, we had to total the 04 grand Prix. The wife swerved to avoid....can you Guess?, another deer, lost control of the car and tore it up so bad it was Totaled. She is okay though. To top it all off, the tow comapny took it to their place (instead of my house) and I had to pay $200 (for the Recovery/tow) to get our personal items and then just said our "goodbyes" to the GP which we had for almost 10 years.
Anyway, back to your accident and maybe my Bad Luck helps you feel a little better about things. As I mentioned, had a similar issue back in 2009 and driving into work one morning in my Caprice and hit a deer. I was going about 45-50 MPH and with it being dark had no warning and things just happen so fast. It was running from my left to my Right and caused about the same damage as what you got. Another second or 2 slower and I would have been fine. My impact looks about the same as yours except both AB's deployed (what a mess) Which also tore up the Dash Pad and Busted the Windshield on the Pass side. Here are some pics....
Above....You can see the Imprint of the Deer's Body on the hood and it's Head whipped around and Dented the Pass Side fender.
The last pic is of the Radiator Support and you may be able to see it in the pic, but the rad support was pushed back from the Impact and had to be replaced. Not having Full Coverage on the car, I picked up a Front Clip (Black), new Air Bags and a dash Pad and did the repairs myself.
I would say your car is also fixable but depending on who does the work, how much it costs and what the insurance will cover has yet to be figured out. This was mine after I got her all repaired and the Color match from the other car was pretty good and required no touch up at all....so you do have some options other than Paint and Body work.
I would almost bet you the the Rad support on your car is also toast. My hope would be that the INS. does not Total the car or you could be out of luck unless you do the repairs yourself. hopefully things work out and you can get it back on the road cause I doubt it's anything major other than bolt on parts that can be swapped out. Again, sorry this happened and good Luck with getting her back on the Road.
