How do I tell the difference betwee the 4.3L engine and the 5.7L 350.

Check the SPID sheet. L99 is the 4.3 adn LT1 is the 5.7

Along with the SPID tag in the trunk, there are other ways to tell. On top of the radiator is an emissions label that specifies the engine size. And the 8th digit of the VIN# will be a W for the 4.3 L99, or it will be a P for the 5.7 LT1.

Looking at the rear of a car, I believe the L99 (4.3ltr) has a single exhaust/tailpipe, and the LT1 (5.7ltr) has full dual exhausts/tailpipes. Easy way to tell from a distance...
