Question

what kind of rear end do i have in my 94' 9c1? I have 3.08's from the code on the inside of the trunk, but i want to swap in at least 3.42's. Could i take out gears from other rear end besides from just caprices and impala's? thanks alot.

I son't recommend you getting any used gears, you don't know how much time they got on them left, plus you have to make sure the rearend size is 8.5" so it'll work right. But If you still want the used gears I recommend getting them from a 9C1 from 91-93, they had 3.42s in the LO5s. They should be the same but I'm not completely sure, you can try a 89 and 90 9C1 gears. 1994+ they didn't use anything higher than 3.08 on LT1s B-Bodies that I know of.

From 91-96, Caddy Fleetwoods w/ towing packages had either 3.73 or 3.42 ring'n'pinions inside 8.5" rear ends. Stick with GM, Motive, or Reider Racing ring'n'pinions.
Don't forget to get an ABS reluctor - unless you don't care about ABS ...
