I priced out remotes at the dealer once. They were really pricey. I managed to get 1 of the 2 keyfobs I found in my glovebox to work for a while. Then it packed in and I'm not sure if it's the remote or the unit itself. I bought an aftermarket remote start with keyless entry for half the price of 1 factory remote.

Sometimes you see the factory keyfobs on Ebay, but I don't know how you make sure it's the right one.

Search the electrical forum for "keyless" and you will find that it is quite easy and inexpensive to get factory keyless working on your car.

What SPID codes do you think reference keyless entry? Also make sure that you in fact DO have keyless entry. I remember I thought I had it, but it turned out false.

I got a remote for ~20$ on ebay, but it turned out it worked only once in programming mode. The keyless module in the car failed. No matter what I do, Im stuck with my remote. Seem its a common failure along with the BOSE unit in '91..

So my advice is don't pay too much for a keyfob, it may turn out nothing works.

My module has been tested with the "loop" triggering trick and worked out fine. But the remotes are a real pain!

I got 3 at home (2 came with the car and 1 OEM new one) and all failed after a couple of times......

That standard GM entry system sucks ass big time.

Go for an aftermarktet one, which will probably work a lot better.

Congrats! That's the SPID for the remote entry. I **think** the reciever is mounted in the trunk where the deck lid is at. Alot of people complain about how bad the stock GM remote is. I'll be looking for an alarm system with keyless entry in the near future. Think about that option as well. I mean wouldn't you be happier with 1 remote that does everything, then having two remotes-and not even using the other one .

The receiver for the factory keyless entry is mounted on the rear package shelf (rear dash). It's underneath the carpet between the 3rd brake light and back seat, inside the car.

The programming terminal is located on the left hand side of the trunk opening in the wiring harness. When you short the 2 pins together it should cycle the locks and then the trunk solenoid.

If you can get that much to work then you may be able to get it to work with a new remote. My remotes are totally busted or I would send them to you. Maybe you could find someone in your area that has a remote and try it.

But all in all, an aftermarket unit will be a lot less hassle. Make sure if you get one that it sends positive pulses. Thats how you trigger the locks and trunk release on a caprice.

If you have anymore questions PM me and I'll try to help you out.
