Did anyone see the show last night on the Discovery channel called Monster Garage. They tore up a perfectly nice Impala SS to create a zamboni. I had tears in my eyes as they chopped the car apart. I like the show but that was wrong.

Well Dan, if it makes you feel any better it wasn't a real SS. I'm still not sure what it was but it wasn't an SS. The seats looked like my 96 Civi, the dash was definitely 94-96, the engine and bay were definitely 93 TBI. It had 93-94 pointed quarter windows with 95-96 door mirrors and on top of it all, they kept calling it a 96 Impala, so who knows but it was definitely not a real SS. Hope this helps

Yeah I noticed the TBI when they were routing the exhaust through the hood. Still chopping one up has me a little revved up. You know we love our b-bodys here.

I hear ya brutha. I'm scaring myself a little, as I watched i'm pointing out all these things to my wife which indicate that it's not in fact a real SS. I always thought it was the other guys that did that.

Yeah, I noticed a lot of things that told me it wasn't a real SS. It looked like it was put together from a lot of different year parts. I'm glad they didn't trash a real SS, too. Did you notice that the rear window re-appeared at the end, even though the broke out the original one with a hammer at the begining?

I didn't notice the rear window reappear, but I did mention in the misc section that I believe there were two cars. when they were smashing out all the glass at the beginning, I could have sworn that the quarter glass was real 95-96 glass but later the quarter window was definitely pointy. Who knows.

Same here. The whole fam was watching the show and my son was even yelling at the show. Funny thought I even applied to be on the show when I first saw it. I wouldn't know what to do if they said...oh yeah we are going to chop up a b-body.

Just to add to this show flow. They have seven days to complete the transformation to meet the challenge right. Funny how they get the car painted (flames no less) on the 6th eve to show up for the 7th's days events. Still it is a good show.

Anyone else notice that they called the one guy's car a 1932 Ford Roadster when in fact it was a 1930-31 Model A coupe?

You'd think that the Discovery Channel would get their facts straight and at least check with the guy on what type of car he has.

I watched it with m girlfriend and she also noticed the 96 quarter windows changing.

So, they called it a 96 Impala SS

But it had tyhe following:

TBI, not LT1
Wrong interior
wrong center Console (anyone notice that?)

I'd have to say that it definitely was two cars, one was a 95-96, but the other was a 94.

THe 94 was also the one that was finally turned into the Zamboni.

Interesting Idea, but still a damn shame, regardless if it was a 93, 94, 95, or 96.

I also dont think that the rear lights were from an Impala, they looked like Caprice lights. Anyone notice those?
