Question

Anybody ever done this? What systems are out there? Can I use a Dynomax cat-back from the Impala SS?

Thanks,
Chris

think you need a 94-up crossmember with 2 humps, the 91-93 ones dont have that.

pat, u r right.. 24 bucks from GM also you need a special tranny tail shaft to fit that crossmember...you also need to weld 2 inches of steel onto your frame to bolt the cross member up... the tranny shaft is factory 4l60.. 94-96 trannys. the tail shaft from gm is over 100 bucks...good luck finding one at a wrecking yard.

Why would you change the tailshaft on a 700R4/4L60 to a 4L60E tailshaft? They should be the same. Or do you mean tail shaft housing? Please clarify.

Question

So why did you feel it (the tailshaft housing) needed to be replaced? I think the tranny mount is the same, please feel free to elaborate. (Enquiring minds wanna know. )

I have not done the mod myself yet. I have read MANY articals on this subject. Also I purchased a 94-96 crossmember and it would not fit the transmission or the frame. So thats why I said you need a diffrent tail shaft housing. Some articals I read say that you can modify the housing.

I know that you have to add about 2 inches of flat iron to get teh crossmember (94 - 96 dual hump) to mount, but this is a first on modifying the tailshaft housing or tranny mount problems. Can you post some of the articles on this issues that you've read, I'd like the info myself.
