I found a 1996 Caprice Classic Fully Loaded minus sunroof. Its in great condition, runs great and engine looks great....I wouldnt doubt this car except it is pushing 180,000miles....Supposedly it was some type of county car in Texas I believe...maybe Arizona (had stickers on it)
Its an LT1 like I said, BUT has the towing package and leather, cd, and mechanical fan......with one cooler on the outside...trans cooler? Well I think it may be a B4U...I didnt think to check the SPID because I just came on here to search and B4U came up.

Are these cars pretty good? It doesnt have the silicone hoses and from what Ive read, rear drums....the car needs some minor paint work for hood chips (which leads me to believe Highway Miles) and a few paint chips on roof...

Is this car worth getting for $4900? I really like it but the mileage worries me...All the other cars have been refurbished...even at 70k....
He says this prolly is, but he dont know for sure...He is gonna try to find out 2morrow morning.

Its white like I want, but I can get a DGGM LT1 with G80 and carpet, no holes and 90k for the same price. I dont technically feel the need for posi since im putting 14" daytons on it and cruising it daily.

So is it a 9C1 but civi'd out?
Its funny...cuz usually the blue book is off...way lower.....and the dealers want way more...but even with 180000 inputed...the KBB says $5010 and he wants $4900...but might take $4750...so its right on

If you are hung up on the "special features" of a 9C1 then get one but REALITY is they are not much different from a lowely civi and many of the differences should not be considered upgrades as much as differences to suit the actual use a police vehicle gets like hours idling with the AC on(different oil cooler). The external cooler you saw was the tranny the oil cooler on that car would be in the radiator which IMO is better as it regulates as opposed to just random cooling wether it needs it or not.
On the 9C1 thing yeah a real difference was GM put rear discs on them BUT didn't setup the system properly so you have to mad the sysyem in order to get the rears to actually work in daily driving situations as is they basically only work in hard stops. Only a $20 mod but crap like this blows all sort od holes in the 9C1s being so specials as most want to believe.

nah, i know the deal with a 9C1...and I really didnt want one...I was hoping for a low mileage undercover with carpet and no holes...Yea it still may have been abused but its the chance you gotta take...I drove a LT1 recently and liked the power...

But now this car came up....LT!1, but looked diff then the other 9C1...I do want a nice luxurious car, thats why i like caprices...But this has the LT1...

I guess I just wanted to find out about a B4U...because these past weeks Ive been trying to gather info on 9C1 and now this might be a diff package and I know it will go fast because of how clean it is....Searching did come up with some good info...but I could always use something that maybe wasnt mentioned

I think $4900 for a Caprice with 180k miles on it is way too much. I also highly doubt it is a civi'd out 9C1. It would be a good amount of work to change everything over. And why would anyone want to put drum brakes or a mechanical fan back on ?

$4900 for a 90k mile Caprice is a different story. It's half the mileage of the other car...just think about it. I've been in the same situation, where you really want the car that doesn't make economical sense to get. But, the smarter thing to do would be to get the car in better shape. The car in better shape usually has less milage.

u guys are misunderstanding me...i meant a b4u is kinda like a civid 9c1....

well anyways..if it is a b4u .......whatever it is...its real clean and engine runs/sounds great....it doesnt make sense that the original engine would perform so well....cuz some of the lesser mileage cars dont sound/run as good

but if it was rebuilt i think im gonna get it

The car you describe seems like a close match to mine. It was a one owner car out of San Diego with 150K. I paid $2300. The car is clean as can be. Leather interior with no wear, except some carpet wear. It also gets about 26-27 on the hwy at 70 mph. The car runs great and you would think it has 30K miles.

On the price I paid $2500 for a 95 Roady wagon, pretty well loaded I guess that is a given for a Roady though pretty good exterior shape 172k this was last winter. Put a good 15k on her since and for the mostpart she has treated me well.
