Hi all,

Forgive me. I know this is a '91 to '96 site, but I was looking for some info on the older squarebody caprices/impalas.

1. Are there any good sites about those cars? Specifically a good forum like this one? If so, I can probably find the answers to the folling questions there.

2. Were they offered in 2 doors in all years or did the 2 door get discontinued at some point in time? What was that point?

3. What were the other GM derivatives of this car? Pontiac Perisienne, olds ??? something or other, buick something or other. What were they?

I still want a '91 or '92, but I'm a 2-door man at heart and if I could find a real deal on a cream-puff 2 door square b-body, that would be neat.

Thanks,
Clem

The 2 door was discontinued in '87, if memory serves. Pontiac Bonnevilles were b-bodies, but I can't remember the Buick version. I don't know of a site that's like this for the pre-'91s. I had a '78 Impala 2-door. They are a good starting point, with plenty of room for a Rat if you want. HTH

They stopped making the coupe in 1987. Other than the pontiac there was the Olds Delta 88 (ended in 85 but continued until 90 in a wagon) and the Buick lesabre (smae as the olds as far as years of production) And there is a good forum at www.gmfourms.com and there is a 77-90 section.

Thanks guys.

Idunno...I think it would be harder and more expensive to find an old two door square b-body in good shape than to just get a nicer, newer one

Thanks,
Clem

I find the best techincal info here on the Impala SS forum. The suspension info is pretty much the same for all '77-'96 B-Bodies. The 700R4 shares a whole lot with the 4L60 and 4L60E. Chevy-small block tech is pretty similar between the TBI and 4bbl cars.

Two door Chevy B-Bodies were available from

<LI>'59-'82
<LI>'84-'87

No factory two door Chevrolet B-Bodies in '83 or after the '87.

Here's a run down of other GM square ('77-'90) B-Bodies by division:

Buick
'77-'85 Le Sabre 4dr
'77-'85 Le Sabre 2dr
'77-'78 Riveria 2dr
'77-'90 Estate wagon

Chevrolet
'77-'85 Impala 4dr
'77-'82 Impala 2dr
'77-'82 Impala wagon
'77-'90 Caprice 4dr
'77-'82 Caprice 2dr
'84-'87 Caprice 2dr
'77-'90 Caprice wagon

Oldsmobile
'77-'85 Delta 88 4dr
'77-'85 Delta 88 2dr
'77-'90 Custom Cruiser

Pontiac
'77-'81 Catalina 4dr
'77-'81 Catalina 2dr
'77-'81 Bonneville 2dr
'77-'81 Bonneville 4dr
'83-'86 Parisienne 4dr
'77-'89 Safari wagon
