Question

Hey I was wondering if anyone compared the bolt pattern and measurments of the LT1 exhaust manifolds and the LO3,LO5. I was looking at a piture of the LT1 and it seems to me that they are close, I don't have access to an actual LT1 to measure for myself. IF these were close couldn't the stock manifolds or aftermarket headers work on the older engine?

The bolt pattern on the head is the same, and is identical to every SBC back to the 50s!

As for the exact shape of the manifolds, not sure buy doubtful. This means you could use LT1 manifolds.....IF you also swapped to LT1 cats/export pipes AND LT1 exhaust system.

Just get headers instead

Talking

Ok, I think I now have it straight, I have a complete Impala dual system, but have been putting off cutting it up to make it fit a 93 LO3 Caprice. If I can get a hold of some
stock exhaust manifolds, I should be able to
install the complete system on my car. Looking at the LT1 manifolds, my guess is
they would flow better than the "log" type my car has, or the 9C1 LO5's. Is there a stock replacement header which would work on an Impala, with out changing anything else, I mean like a Cat-Forward header? Anyone have a price on something like that?

As always, thanks again Ed, I really appreciate the help on the manifolds.

A set of SLP headers should work if you want shortie "cat forward headers" these can be found used for a few hundred bucks if you ask around.
