1989 Cadillac Fleetwood 4S Blue

I know this is not a B-Body but perhaps enough of a cross-over appeal here that some might be interested. My brother is selling this car on behalf of his Grandfather-in-law. Located in Indianapolis metro.

https://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/5783838825.html

His asking price is $12k but said he'd happily go down to $10k. The old man says the car is worth that much because of the solid frame of the time period and the fact it's primarily been his Sunday driving and road trip car. I don't know enough about it to determine if that is true or not... you can tell me if you think that's on spot or crazy and I'll pass the feedback along.

Anyways, if you want to see more pictures or have any questions you can either let me know or contact my brother directly from contact information in the listing.

"Superb low mileage Blue 1989 Cadillac Fleetwood 4S, 5.0 L V8 automatic 4 speed gasoline engine. The owner is a Senior Citizen who is ready for it to have a new home. This prize has less than 75k miles and runs like new. Amenities include:
Cruise Control
Power Windows
Climate Control
Leather Seats
Power Seats

Non-smoker, always parked in garage and no rust.

Asking for $12k or best offer."

That is crack price, all day long. No one is ever going to drop 12k on an FWD Caddy. Also, it doesn't have a 5.0L, it will have the 4.5L version of the dreaded HT4100. Put it up on the Cadillac Forum and see what they say in the FWD section.

My brother assures me it is Rear Wheel Drive and has the 5.0 L Engine. I'll definitely have him check out the Cadillac forum, though! I'm sure that may be helpful too.

You say noone will drop 12K on the FWD... does that mean they would be willing to pay that much for the RWD? It's too rich for my blood but that's not a model of car I'm an enthusiast for.

In all honesty, it's probably a $2500 car, that is on a good day. A regular day it's an $1800 car.

???

It's a Cadillac, they all have that stuff, nothing special there. Maybe 25% don't have leather seats.

It's not RWD, and it's not 5.0. Unless that pic isn't his car. Like his price, he doesn't know what's up. I'm not trying to be insulting, you asked for honesty. And no, a 75k RWD 89 Fleet wouldn't bring 12k, either. But, that did get a 5 liter/307 Olds engine...

Gulp

Please let your brother know KellyBlueBook does not go back that far, but his is a rather un-special fully depreciated rig falling outside collector value. Even using a '92 Sixty Special (a whole .4 liter bigger than his) it appears even if he gets 3X the going amount, it'll still be only 1/4 what he's asking.

Forum says!:
- Impress the girls while driving it til it's dead,
- Find a lo-rider who just can't live without it,
- Find some sales comps of near-equal models and donate it to charity for big-time tax write-off,
- At very least find something more fitting than CL to attract a rarefied collector-type who may actually value the thing.

GL whatever he decides.

\'96SS SOB: SSRI, Herter Tune, Tri-Y II, , 3000 Edge, F/HO bars, METCO extendeds with CV MMC, Bilsteins, currently Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta (315/35 rear). Finally, wait for it... LT-4 knock module!
\'96FWB BUW-Butt Ugly White: PCMPerformance tune, HDFA w/ swissed filter, 1/2 SLP s.s. catback with H- and Flow Super 50s, oem opti rebuilt 3 times, SS Bars, METCO LCA, Airlift 1000, Monroe SS, PowerTrax No-Slip, CTS wheels with +1 rubber. Finally, yes again... LT-4 knock module!

Hey, no offense taken on any comments, I really do appreciate the input!

I told my brother I thought the asking price was high - but that was what his grandfather-in-law wanted to put out there for a starting number. I've told him to go and find the documentation that backs up the Engine size and RWD. Based on your info I'm now doubtful that the engine is a 5.0 L and I'm wondering about whether it is RWD or FWD. I've never seen the car myself to confirm.

Worst case scenario he just slaps some spinning rims on it and puts a 15" sub-woofer in the trunk. That should increase the value at least a couple grand if he takes it downtown

lol, there's nothing to wonder about. It's FWD.

This is a RWD Cadillac from 1989.

And, here is the 1988 Cadillac brochure. This will help your research (and will clarify his recollection):
