still has DeCarbons

Well just picked up a 95 DCM, was in one family, they owned since new. Just going thru it, making a list, it is high mileage .. and noticed still had the factory DeCarbons....wow...
I would think they are tired... the fronts are dirty, oil has leaked out..
Thinking Monroe SS , rebuild front end, I have big ball joint lowers (new) and new spindles in the boxes.

And the fun begins....

I would consider Bilsteins over Monroe for shocks

There's a place for both. Running Bilstein Sports on my Impala SS and love them. My prior FWB with total Impala SS suspension also had them and loved it as well. On my current FWB I wanted to keep stock FE1 coils so opted for "ever slightly less" approach with Monroe SS = glad I did. There's even a version of KYB that's reportedly respectable. A rough guide here:

http://longroof.info/pdf/suspensionmods.pdf

\'96SS SOB: SSRI, Herter Tune, Tri-Y II, , 3000 Edge, F/HO bars, METCO extendeds with CV MMC, Bilsteins, currently Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta (315/35 rear)
\'96FWB BUW-Butt Ugly White: PCMPerformance tune, HDFA w/ swissed filter, 1/2 SLP s.s. catback with H- and Flow Super 50s, oem opti rebuilt 3 times, SS Bars, METCO LCA, Airlift 1000, Monroe SS, PowerTrax No-Slip, CTS wheels with +1 rubber. Finally, wait for it... LT-4 knock module!
