I'm looking for some opinions. So a little while ago I did the lower body bushings, and I like everyone else is a convert, what a super mod they are. Damndest thing though about being under the car is noticing everything else that's wrong. I noticed it then, and reminded myself last night when I was crawling around underneath changing oil and sensors, that at least the last body mounts, position 7 I guess, are pretty busted. They're still there, just squished and cracked something awful. Everything I read says its a major PITA to do on your back, but I don't have easy access to a lift, and don't feel like paying someone 60 bucks to do something easy, on top of the part costs. I can do my own searches on the appropriate bushings and costs, but opinions are appreciated. Really I want to know if these have to be replaced or can I cruise along till I have something else that I must have a shop fix on a lift?

You're at the front end of a long list of possible things to do to restore the "NEW" function/performance of the many parts that were assembled 10 years ago. Still, it's worth the effort, and alot less $$$ than the cost of a new car that you would never be happy with.

Body mounts do get used up--anything made of rubber will have the same tendency. You will want to replace them eventually, and once you do, you'll wonder why you waited....

Oh, I am planning on replacing them eventually. I was just curious if this is the sort of thing that needs to be done sooner than later. Are they going to blow out and then my rear end collapses? That's the sort of thing I'm worried about.

And lord knows I don't want a new car, not with all the money sunk into this baby! And it fits my long frame so nicely, letting me comfortably smile and wave at people as I blow by them.

Edit: Bill, I just found your upper body mount thread via the other bushing thread going on right now. Great stuff!
