I never noticed until I got the wide wheels and tires on it and now it's all to obvious! The driver side tire is sunk in about an inch from being flush, and the pass. side is damn near flush. Is this common and what is an easy way to correct it?

The rear end is never centered... But on some impalas this seem to be very obvious...

My bud's car rear end was almost an inch to the right...

I belive he jacked the body up and loosened up the body mounts. The body moved a bit when he loosened it and then he tighten things back up... This allowed the everything to settle in fine, and it fixed his problem...

Yes, it's common. Yes, it's an issue when ordering wider tires. Yes, if you go REAL wide (i.e. 11" wide rims), you'll have to most likely order different backspacing on each side. And yes, it is the AXLE not being centered under the FRAME, not the body being crooked (although that can happen too....much LESS likely though).

(aka, the Search button works on this forum [img]smile.gif[/img] )

Go ahead and measure it. Chances are, in reality, it is only 1/4" to 3/8" shifted to one side and just looks worse than it is.

I had this very problem on my Caprice after getting wider wheels, I really noticed the problem. The problem with mine was the frame was not centered under body. I measured the Rear end as related to the frame rails and the rear end was straight/centered in relation to the frame. When I measured the Rear end and frame at certain spots it was not centered under car. I loosened the Frame bolts/ body mounts. Jacked car up placed jack stands 2 behind rear tire/ two in front of rear tires and two behind front tires,, All jack stands on the frame. I then placed jack lightly under the body on one side (jack placed under side where wheel to fender gap is wider) jacked up enough to relieve some weight on the frame and them just took a 2x4(between body and frame rail near rear tire) on the opposite side of jack and was able to move the body over with minimal effort. Hopefully your frame mounts are not to rusty. I was lucky, live in AZ and no rust at all. Hope it helps. Roger,,
