I want to center the wheel in the well and reduce deflection. I've searched the archives and I have some questions. It seems the global west are the best for no deflection but do they make an extended piece? And where do ya get 'em?The BMR's seem to be the bang for the buck leader but they have so many different ones, which would be best for my application? Also should I get uppers and lowers or just the lowers? I'm not going to be autocrossing the car.

Cons to extended arms:
Might need longer driveshaft (maybe $$$)

Stretching your 5th brake line (maybe $$$)

Moving even MORE weight in front of the drive wheels on a front-heavy cat

You MUST change the uppers (double the $ and more than double the work of stock-length)

Can't use global west (the ONLY arms that use spherical and del-a-lum bushings for NO deflection or bind).


Pros:
Your wheels look centered. That's it.


Note GW is working on extended arms, so at least one objection will go away soon. But given you'll need uppers and lowers you're looking at a huge cost to go extended with GW hardware.

Good info Knightshade

I actually want to center the wheel because I want to run a bigger tire. So add "better clearance" to the pros column. I don't care about looks. It's function that is driving me.

From what I have read most extended length LCA's keep the DS within tolerance so no DS required.

The Brake line issue is a concern so I may need to look at that more closely.

Front heavy. I don't care. I can just add more weight to the back like a sub or something. He he.

Cost. Not a big issue but I am looking for ways to accomplish the same result for less.

How big of a tire are you wanting to run? Never heard of anyone NEEDING to center it for tire reason...

IIRC, the wheel IS centered in the well, just that the opening is not centered.

Going off-roading?

There are far better tire choices for what I think you're looking to do here (wider tire, in 18"?).

A 29" tire (remember, you need to match tire diameters front and rear) is gonna look horrible on an SS/9C1.....

I'm going to need something that will stick and have street manners. The best tire I've found for this purpose is a Nitto drag radial. I've run them all year round with great success on other cars. They will definitely do better than what I have but I think I'll need a little more tire. My Camaro with 373's and full drag suspension won't hook at all on drag radials. Mainly because the TC hits like a ton of bricks but I'm just trying to compare cars I own. I really hate singing the "I ain't got no" traction blues.
