WELL I INSTALLED MOOG SPRINGS P/N CC601 AND P/N 5030 TO LOWER THE 9C1 TO STOCK IMPALA HEIGHT. AFTER DOING THIS THE CAR SITS HIGHER THAN BEFORE! I CALLED THE PARTS STORE TO CONFIRM THESE P/N'S AND WAS ASURED THEY WERE CORECT FOR AN IMPALLA SS. FROM THE GROUND TO THE TOP OF THE WHEEL WELL MOLDING MY MOTHER 96 IMPALA SS IS 28". WHILE MY 9C1 WITH THE "SS" SPRINGS IS A WHOPPING 30 1/2"!!!!! ANY CHANCE THEY WILL SETTLE 2.5 INCHES OR AM I SCREWED??? PLEASE HELP!!!!

Are you sure the springs were indexed properly in the perches? Did you torque the control arms with the car in the air or on the ground? There are a couple of good threads floating around on this very topic.

THANK YOU. WELL I AM STILL SEARCHING THIS BUT IT APEARS THAT I WAS GIVIN THE WRONG PART NUMBER SPRINGS!

OK. I'VE BEEN SEARCHING LIKE MAD. BUT CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE PART # FOR STOCK SS SPRINGS? I DON'T CARE WHO MAKES THEM. BE IT GM, MOOG, OR WHOEVER. I JUST WANNA GET THE CAR TO LOOK RIGHT. THANKS SO MUCH GUYS!

I drove mine around for a day and they settled. make sure the spring is also sitting in the perch properly, that could the problem

Thanks for the reply's fellas. it looks as though the springs are not the right ones. i e-mailed dal for the p/n and price on factory ss springs. hopefully i can get this all sorted out soon!

Those aren't the right springs.

Consider it to be an expensive lesson in "trusting" the parts store guy [img]smile.gif[/img]

I CAN'T THANK YOU GUYS ENOUGH! LESSON ONE: ALWAYS ask this forum before ordering parts or doing mods!! I know it's a little late now, but does anyone know the correct part # for frontand rear impala springs? Be they factory, moog or whatever, as long as the pn is for a ss i don't care! THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE HELP GUYS! THAT'S WHY I LOVE IT HERE!

My 91 Caprice had the "soft ride" option. Looked bad. I ordered front & rear SS springs. It dropped it about 2 1/2 inches. Especially in the rear. Also installed 9C1 sway bars. The front SS springs were about 4 inches shorter but the coil was 90 thousands thicker. So it of cousre not only lowered it, it firmed up the ride. My parts friend that ordered them had a Caprice & he installed Ibocs on his. His car would bottom out on the stops. Mine never has. Also got Poly bushings from Manny, Moe & Jack. (Pep Boys)
I installed new Monroe gas shocks last month & it raised it about 1/2 inch. I may cut a 1/2 coil off the fronts.
