Hi all,
I am finally installing my Extended Metco Uppers and lowers (bought through the FIRST GP a few years ago).

Other than making sure to do the final tightening with the rearend under weight, any helpfull hints?

I'm not replacing the driveshaft, but I've heard that's not a big deal since my car is a daily driver and don't drag.

I bought the Bolt kit for the HA bar at the St. Louis meet a few years ago.

My only real concern is using the HA bar for a while with the stock front bar. Would I be better off just putting the stock rear bar back on until I get a stiffer front bar?

You've already heard the truth about the uppers so as for the HA bar with the stock front bar, it will produce involuntary transitional oversteer that is outright dangerous.

I guess I would just say keep your old arms, in case you don't like the change. Be careful and support the body and the axle seperately, you will have to pull out two arms at a time to do the extended.

In my case the benefits of the Metco extended arms far outweighed the shortcomings. Especially when compared to the flimsy stock junk.

I used an impact hammer/chisel to cut the stock shells on the top of the axle. I then knocked them out with a hammer. This worked pretty well. I then just hammered the new bushing in.

As mentioned in your other post you will need to extend the mount for the 5th brake line if you install SS lines. I made a Z bracket out of stainless which worked great. I have pictures of this, but they are not on my web site yet.

Good luck. I treated myself to a good compressor since that write-up, so the air chisel attack will definitely be the way to go for me from now on. If the stock and Metco UCAs had used the same size connections at the bushing, I would not have bothered changing them out.

And what everyone says about an aftermarket rear bar with only a stock front bar. Except my Fleetwood does great with a slightly non-stock variant.
