alarm install?

Have any of you installed a viper alarm, maybe 5701 or other with remote start on your own car?
The shop near me wants 499.00 installed for a python something!
They have been around a while but i dont know if its worth all that or something I can do.
If you have any hints,tips?

I've installed alot of them over the years.

Just need to take your time is all! if you've never done it I doubt you'll do it in a day. But you do learn alot. There are also tons of charts to help with the wire coding to make it a snap.
