OEM Keyless entry/remote start

I have been told that my 95 Caprice wagon which originally did not have the keyless entry/remote start option may possibly have the system already installed by the factory and that all that I would need to do is buy the fobs and have them programmed by a GM dealer. Does anyone out there have any experience with this?

Of course, since I am the third owner it is also possible that it had the system with the fobs when new and they were lost or discarded through previous owners.

Can the VIN tell me anything about this?

Hey Ed.
If the car didn't have keyless entry originally there are no provisions from the factory to easily install it later.
Best to just go with an aftermarket set-up if you want it.
There was never a remote start option for these cars that I know of, all the keyless entry does is lock and unlock the doors and release the trunk latch or tailgate window latch.
If it has keyless entry the SPID label with the RPO codes on it should have a "AUO" code, the label is behind the spare tire and to the rear on my wagon. You can enter the VIN at Compnine and it will tell you all the options the car has too.

You don't need to go to a GM dealer to have the remote fob programmed, search here and there's a thread on how to do it.

To add, the 95 Caprice wagon did not have keyless as an option .

If you have a little wiring smarts, adding the module from a Buick or Chev non wagon really isn't that hard but you will have to run wiring the length of the car from the module in RR to the LF kick panel

In the key less technology you have to face many common problem like when you lock and unlock the car with the fob than mostly the sensor had a fault and your alarm system,Ignition system and other electrical component go off.So read the review first than use that.
