Restarting the Soft 8's thread!

If you're rocking a set of Cragar Soft 8's, post em up! I'm interested to see a set of 17s, hopefully some 17x10 rears on a wagon! I'll post up some better pics of my 15s once the thread gets goin..

BigBody, Sweet looking paint scheme. It looks sharp.

How big of 15s and tires can be stuffed on the rear of a 95 wagon without cutting?

theres a guy on here who i got my idea from.. he was running 15x10s in the back with 6 inches of backspacing, which is the backspacing i plan on running. i plan on doing the 17s/springs/shocks for my birthday.

hope these help a little.

15x8's (4"bs) w/235 60's and 15x14's:) in the rear (7"bs, 1/2" frame notch) w/ 295 50's also 2 pics w/ 15x10's in the rear (6"bs) w/ same 295's. P.S. the 6" bs is perfect w/ the 10" rims but NOT with the 295's! No spacer, the tire hit the frame and w/ 1/4" spacer, the tire hit the skirt even with the lip rolled. Hence the flares:) 275 60's would probably be o.k. though.

anyone got ideas for a tire size on 17x9s? i wanna upgrade to a set but i also want some RWL. any size that does this?
No such thing as a 17" white letter tire for cars. Just trucks... although I bet you could noodle around and find a White letter SUV tire that does work...

What offset are you running on those 15x8's, anyway? I gots an idea... gonna play with some centercaps...

Anyone got these is anything larger than 17s?

The widest they make these in a 17 is 9 or 9.5" 17" is the biggest they offer the soft 8's in. They also make them in a 17X8. My plan is to run 15X10 with 5.5" backspacing and a 275/60 drag radial and then 17X8 up front to clear my C5 brakes.
I was also debating getting a set of 17X9's for the rear to use as a street setup and run a 275/55/17. Mainly because of my TH400 and a 275/55/17 is pretty close to the same height as my 295/30/22's
.
Summit will do custom backspacing on these wheels for an additional $20 or so, so don't feel obligated to get a standard made size when you decide to order.

ive had the 17x9's as my daily drivers since 2007. for the price ive loved the look. i had the cragar center caps on last year but ive enjoyed the look of them removed better.

Oh god, I love me some soft 8's.

I wanted to do the 17x9 ones on my wagon, but I don't know.

Cragar "Soft 8" 397 Series Rims & Nitto 555 Extreme Performance Tires

Here are some photos of my new Cragar rims and Nitto tires on my 96 SS.

The rims are steel Cragar "soft 8" 397 series 17"x9" with 5" of backspacing (part # 3978950) and the tires are 285/40ZR-17 Nitto 555 Extreme Performance. I got these rims and tires from America's Tire in Napa, California. The "out the door" price for 4 Cragar "soft 8" 397 rims, 4 Cragar chrome center caps, 4 Nitto 555 tires, 1 BFG T/A 235/60R-15 spare, 1 chrome installation kit with key, mounting, balancing, tire disposal fee, and tax was $1,407.39 which seemed pretty good to me! I have had the car up to 150 mph with this combo and there are no vibrations or problems to report! What do you guys think?

I had a set of those a few years ago, back when they came out, my wife totaled the car though (rims looked like pretzels)! They're a nice simple replacement for the stock 9c1 wheels/tires, while keeping the "cop" look.

My only beef was (and this applies to most aftermarket wheels, but the cragars in particular) is that they're lug-centric, and every time I'd get the tires rotated, they'd cinch the lugnuts down wherever the wheel happened to rest, and it'd be a wobbly ride until I could "reset" the rims.

They look nice though, very stealthy.
