93 Caprice wagon electrical issues

Recently purchased a 93 Caprice wagon. Nice car runs really good but has a few minor issues. For some reason I can't get the temp gauge to work. Replaced both sensors one on intake and the other in the block between 1 and 3 cylinders. Also can't get the back glass to pop with button on dash or rear wiper to work. Any suggestions

The wiring for the gauge sensor goes under the engine at the front. The wiring is notorious for having the insulation melt, and become fused into a lump. The insulation also cracks, and exposes wires. It is a RPITA to splice wiring to repair it. You need a VOM to check for voltage, and continuity.

Check for a proper connection at the switch panel for the rear wiper and gate glass popper. The car must be in park or neutral for the gate glass to operate. If the switch is not making contact in the column, the gate will not operate. The column switch is the ground for the release relay in the convenience center.

Does the washer function work?

The wiper requires that the glass interlock switch is closed for the wiper to work. The switch is located on the gate solenoid.
