door chime will not stop ringing. 96ss

96 ss recently my door chime started ringing at various times for no apparent reason and keeps ringing and will not stop. How do I replace the chime ? where is the convenience group?

I've got an extra that I'd be willing to part with for $25 shipped,PayPal only.
Convenience center is located to the left, and slightly above where the column goes through the firewall.

interior lights

Easy way to find the module would be to put the ignition key in the ignition and open the drivers door, or turn on the headlights with the key out.

The chime should lead you to a green (?) module plugged into the black convenience group on the firewall above the carpet and to the left (?) of the steering column. I am going by memory.

If the interior (roof) light is not coming on with the random chime you may have a problem with any of the systems connected to it. These include: ignition power input, the headlights, the ignition "key in lock" switch, door switches, turn signal, seat belt switch, or my favorite gremlin the high speed warning (floor it to pass a car on the highway 100 mph+ (?) ding ding ding) .

Aftermarket car alarms that are not wired correctly or malfunctioning can also be a cause.

If you do a search you will find replacing the module has a low chance of fixing the problem. A FSM and a body that likes being jammed under the dash are in your future. It is hard to fix intermittent electrical problems.

I buy these at the junk yards whenever I see a 94-96 B Body. You'll want a green chime box.The brown are for the earlier 91-93's. Before messing around with anything,I'd try another green chime box.If you don't have a spare on hand, borrow a known good one from a friend's B car and try it.

Here's a pic of one in my car.And the serv manual pic.It pull's straight out after lifting a single locking tab on top of it.

Hope this helps,

Mt first impulse is to check for an intermittent switch. I would check the front driver's side, because it has two sets of contacts, one for the lights, and the other for the chime. Since your interior lights are not coming on, the seatbelt light is not on, and your headlights are not on, that is the first suspect.
