Window switches: Beware Amazon/Ebay

When I bought the car the drivers window wouldn't go up reliably, so I got a new one off Ebay for $25. When I compared the old with the new, it was the same manufacturer. D'oh

8 months later, same issue, bought one off Amazon for $27 that had a lifetime warranty - should have guessed that the exact same unit would arrive.

9 months later, same issue - now I'm buying the ACdelco for $55 like I should have done in the first damn place.

Don't be like me, buy decent parts - you save money in the long run and don't have to pull your door panel 3 times.

Don't be surprised when the more $$$ ACDelco part shows up and it's made by same manufacturer.
They outsource most parts offshore and just put it in ACDELCO box.

Thanks man!

Damn that is so frustrating. The part # I was looking at was 11P14 {#19251619} which is (a) cheaper and (b) does not show that view.

I guess I'll have to give it a shot and see what happens.

This is clearly the usual shoddy manufacturing, lasts for X months then you need a new one. My door panel can only take so many R&R's before it cracks, anyone know of any quality replacements?

With all the mergers and migration to offshore production it's generally a sad state for aftermarket parts these days.
Only a few companies that actually produce the junk and it's just rebranded.
I have sent back and had a lot of failures with the ACDELCO parts of today.
Just not the same quality as when these were built.
So I just make sure whatever I buy has a lifetime warranty if possible.

I have an OEM unit for $50 shipped. You do not have to remove the door panel to replace the switch block. You can slip a thin blade under the front, and push the clip in to remove the switch panel.

I do not know what car you have, or what color your interior is, but I have some switch panels as well.

1991 OCC 461 (.030 over 454) BBC, 3.23 posi, flash to pass, drop spindles & springs, Impala rims, Hydroboost, Recaros, MOMO/wood SW w/QR, custom wood shift knob, Pioneer DEH P77DH
1992 OCC now with 5.7 tbi, DEH P77DH
