High Amp Alternator

Has anybody used a high output alternator from this place? If so I'm looking for your feedback pro's or con's.

lol Jay, overpost....

I usually check BBB and google '[insert name] complaints' on any new something I'm contemplating. I checked early this morning and interesting hits re: this co. on TBSS and other forums like you found.

It almost halfway sounds like their stuff does not operate properly with cars where the alt. communicates with a pcm. The neatest thing was finding that goofy youTube with 6 red alts. hooked together.

\'96SS SOB: SSRI, Herter Tune, Tri-Y II, , 3000 Edge, F/HO bars, METCO extendeds with CV MMC, Bilsteins, currently Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta (315/35 rear)
\'96FWB BUW-Butt Ugly White: PCMPerformance tune, HDFA w/ swissed filter, 1/2 SLP s.s. catback with H- and Flow Super 50s, oem opti rebuilt 3 times, SS Bars, METCO LCA, Airlift 1000, Monroe SS, PowerTrax No-Slip, CTS wheels with +1 rubber. Finally, wait for it... LT-4 knock module!

Find a local auto electric shop and have yours rebuilt+upgraded.
Way too many folks (IMHO) have problems with online alternator vendors.

Reminds me of what I went through with a high output Quick Start alternator I bought for my truck. Failed within months. Couldn't get a response to email or phone calls. Finally got a replacement that didn't last more than a couple days.

Any company that says no mods are necessary, as Power Bastards does, should not be trusted. Good 200 and 250 amp units are available ($$$), but it is worthless to install it without upgrading your cables. Why do think you need more output? Do the cables first and see how much better it is with that alone. Have you had your alternator tested - I mean really tested - on a load type tester?

For those needing a stock unit, check this out:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1

It's been on my watch list for years, the price is steadily dropping. I'm still on my original, but will buy this as a spare.

I already have the big 3 cables from Gary at Innovative Wiring so no issue there. My concern is that I'm installing a 1000 watt stereo system and I'm running a Meziere electric water pump and I just want to make sure I'm not under powered. I might be having an intermittent low idle charge issue at the moment so thought why not just upgrade rather than staying with the factory 140amp unit. I'm going to positively check amp output at idle this evening before I leave work (I'm a heavy equipment mechanic).

Have you thought about Jeg's or Summit? They have plenty at a better price and better known names. Then too there is the fact that you can trust from whom you bought. Both are always concerned with their reputation. Free shipping too.

Yes I was looking at one on Summit Racing. They just dont give any detailed specs like amp output at idle or maximum output at what RPM.

I forgot to check my alternator amp output before I left work so I just did now and discovered that my primary fan isnt working (I'll figure that out tomorrow). With the headlights, electric waterpump, AC, and stereo on (no amplifier hooked up yet) the alternator is putting out 90 amps, if I turn the AC off so the secondary fan isnt running it drops to 68 amps. As you can see I will quickly be approaching the max limits of the factory 140 amp alternator.
