Wow,
Why bother sending in my ballot when only one guy is on it for my region? Only 2 regions have more than one person on the ballots, and 3 regions have none (Bylaws require at least one name on the ballot for each region). BTW, Isn't Larry Hall already on the ISSCA BOD? Am I the only one that finds it strange that an ISSCA board member is running for a position as regional director as well?
The bylaws also state that all ballots must be postmarked prior to Oct 31st. Seeing as mine arrived on Nov 1st, I guess my ballots no good anyway. Will the Al Gore vote counting rules be used to check postmarks

Eric,

Thanks for your critique of the process that is underway now to completely "legitimize" ISSCA. The fact that the bylaws read a certain way, and that compliance was not met, is a failing on our part, yes, but we aren't working with nuclear power plants here--need I remind you?

What other national Impala SS club have you belonged to lately that held elections of any sort? The 9 volunteers that make up the current INTERIM board that is the directing body for ISSCA have every intention of doing the right thing, I assure you and everyone else reading this. The fact that the board is scattered around the country makes it a bit more difficult to do what we have done and meet every requirement of the bylaws, but we are trying.

I'm personally disappointed that we were not able to get someone to step up and put their name into contention in every Region that we've laid out, but while the bylaws address a goal, the ISSCA Board is not playing "king maker"--it is not our job to force each Region to put forward Board candidates, and I assure you we did try to find people. We'll just have to try harder next year.

Voting for the single candidate running in many of the regions may not seem to matter to you, but the vote of confidence does let the candidate know they have the support of those in the region they will be representing. In Larry Hall's case, he is not a member of the interim board of directors--he is the National Show Judge, an appointed position that he accepted voluntarily. He has every right and reason to run for the ISSCA board position open in his region.

This process will be repeated next year, and perhaps we can do a better job of meeting deadlines and offering a better/greater choice of candidates, once everyone understands how the process works.

You know I am always available to answer any questions you may have or address your concerns. Give me a chance to do that before you fire both barrels next time!

By the way, I didn't see a nomination with your name on it....and you are more than welcome to come up to Orange and help me count and validate the ballots and act as the witness as to the legitimacy of the voting results. Let me know if you are interested.

Navy Lifer,
1. I do not think for a minute that this election will be unfair or fixed. The AL Gore reference was a joke as indicated by the smiley ( ) at the end.

2. I brought up the point about Larry Hall not because I have anything against him (wish I had a chance to meet him when I was in Texas last July), but because the ISSCA bylaws (Article V, section 1) states no 2 Board of Directors can be from the same club.
Since Larry is a member of HAIL, HOTSS, and SAIL, if he wins first place, neither Scott Williams (HOTSS) or Steve Koinm (HAIL) may be the second regional director for region 6 irreguardless of how many votes they got. This would mean that Robert Leslie (HOSS) would be the second region 6 director by default even if he finishes last in voting simply because Larry isn't in HOSS (yet). My suggestion to correct this problem is (a)short term Larry drops out of the race (no offense Larry) because he already has a position with ISSCA (even an appointed one), and (b) long term fix is to ensure that for future elections only one nominee from each club can be placed on the ballot in the first place. Of course the voting is already going on and some have already voted for Larry, so Larry's presence on the ballot has already had an effect for the other candidates. It is not fair to Steve and Scott that they may be bumped from the position due to a technicality. For example, how many of the voters in HOTSS new beforehand that Scott and Larry can't both be regional directors, and voted for both of them (I assume that each ballot in region 6 has the member pick 2 of the 4 candidates they like best)?

3. Why is my name not on the region 2 ballot? You know why. I am a board member of the Impala Club of San Diego, and our bylaws state that I cannot hold a board position on another car club while I am a board member of ICSD. In addition, I am active duty Navy and not retired, therefore I cannot meet the obligations of a regional director concerning getting the time off for meetings and such. I would not be capable of serving ISSCA region 2 the way it should be served. I don't see any of the SOCALSS folks on the ballot, and they have over 400 members and are arguably the largest local Impala club in America. It's a shame that they don't have a candidate.

In conclusion, I did not make my previous post in order to "blast" anyone, just making some observations.

SOCALSS is not apart of ISSCA,as of yet but who knows if the new president and owner of the club Frank Halley will change that, there is 400 members in socalss but how many are in issca?
