If you have been a member of ISSCA for any length of time, or have reviewed the bylaws posted on the club’s website, you are aware that each of the 13 regions across America has slots for two elected members to the club’s Board of Directors. The term of office for a director is two years, with the terms staggered between the two from each region, so that both are not up for election in the same year.
The nomination process for Directors to serve the 2005 – 2007 term of office has now closed. I am pleased to announce to my friends in Region 2
(the states of California, Nevada, and Hawaii, as well as members in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and Oceana) that I have been nominated by popular members, Jim and Patty Eatherton, to run for the position vacated by Director and ISSCA Vice President, Bill Harper (Navy Lifer).
I am flattered and honored that Jim and Patty thought me a viable candidate for this position, and would be extremely proud to serve in this capacity, representing my fellow ISSCA members from ISSCA Charter Clubs, the Region of DOOM and Impala SS Club of San Diego, as well as those individual ISSCA members in SoCalSS, SSin City SS, SoCal-SS, Impala Club of San Diego, Inc., and other groups within Region 2.
Many of you know me through the Region of DOOM, and particularly, the Reno RODarama event. Some of you know me through my work as "the Attorney of DOOM."
This note is not to present some long-winded campaign promises or to tell you what a great guy I am or how much I have given to the Impala SS community. Rather, I just want those who will be receiving a ballot in the mail with my name on it to be aware that I take this nomination seriously and hope to be able to serve the members in an honorable and productive way.
You should know that I fully subscribe to the basic tenet of ISSCA – “by the members and for the members.” I would view my role as a Director as one of communicator to present your views and interests to ISSCA, so that the club truly can represent us all.
With that in mind, I encourage any feedback or input that any ISSCA member (or nonmember, for that matter) may wish to offer me, and will try to answer any questions anybody might have about myself or the club. I look forward to the possibility of serving alongside respected member Les Brown in representing Region 2. Please direct any questions you may have to me, and I will do my best to answer them.
