I have posted this before.

Any Oregon B-Body clubs? There used to be BOSS, but I hear it is gone. If there are not, we will be making one when we get together with PSSSTEAM on the 29th.

If we have to make a new club, can we use the old BOSS name? What is involved in being a Chartered ISSCA Club? money?

Not sure what the current "state" of BOSS is.

As far as being an ISSCA Chartered Club, there is no money involved. Rather, you need to meet the following qualifications :

At least 10 club members who are also ISSCA members
ALL of your club officers need to be ISSCA members (the officers can count towards the 10)
Note that if your club doesn't have the "traditional" officers, then we'll just figure out who the club "leaders" are and go from there. ROD falls into this category.

Benefits to being a chartered club are numerous, and include :
 1.
Club Insurance. ISSCA Chartered Clubs are automatically covered by a liability policy (it's either $500K or $1M, I can check) for ANY club event except for racing. And racing event policies are available as well, cheaper than you'll be able to get it going alone (sort of that "Buying in Bulk" deal). As a local club, you are NOT covered for your normal events unless you're paying for the insurance or otherwise covered (i.e. by ISSCA's insurance for Chartered Clubs). If something were to happen right now at a local club event (i.e. someone gets hit by a car, someone gets burned by a grilling accident, etc), the PEOPLE at the event would be PERSONALLY LIABLE in the event of a lawsuit. And lawyers are pretty good at snaking around to figure out who has the deepest pockets out of those people to suddenly be "liable"
Free Webspace - if the Chartered Club wants it, they have free webspace on the ISSCA server.

Mention/Link on ISSCA Website and in every ISSCA Magazine.

Steering of ISSCA members who join and don't know about the local club, TO the nearest chartered club.
Cost to the Chartered Club for all this, beyond the 10+ individual memberships : NOTHING!

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask or e-mail me.

It would be kind of nice to have a club in Orygun. Just to have get togethers and see what mods other Impala SS owners have done.

I'd certainly agree with that. Not that I won't thoroughly enjoy the quick hop up I-5 to the Puget Sound SS team get-togethers, but having a local group, however small, would certainly be simpler to set aside time for.

Besides Dean, walangkatapat and myself, are there any other B-body owners here in OR lurking on this forum? If so, give Dean or myself a holler -- I know I'd be willing to help coordinate some local meetings.

I spoke with Ray Weaver recently he said that for quite sometime he's had no reponse for meetings, so things have died down others have gone on to other projects or sold there Imp. But BOSS is still there he said that if someone else wants to organize a meeting place thats fine. I sure theres a couple of other members that would show up also. Ray is going to try to make it to the Sept 29th Mod Day.
