I have been hanging around for years. I never joined NAISSO, mainly because of all the bad wrap they always got. When IGBA came around, they were real snooty about claiming to be a B-Body deal, yet they didn't want to include the old box models, so I didn't join them either. Here in Oregon there was a local group called BOSS (Bad Oregon Super Sports) I didn't join them because I didn't have a Super Sport.(neither did they IMO).

ISSCA started up, and I liked all I read about it, and it seems all B-Bodies are welcome. ISSCA seems to be closely knit with this forum, and I really liked it here. Ofcorse I still didn't own a SS. I did/do have an '85 Impala, but that probably isn't what y'all meant when you thought of the club name.

Anyway, now along with my others, I finally own the intended vehicle for the club, and so I joined.

Now for the real purpose of this post.

Where is the Oregon part of the club? None?
You want me to hang with the psssteam, or are they affiliated with ISSCA?

If there is nothing going here in Oregon, what do I have to do to make it so that there is? I know 3 or 4 guys that I am sure would get together, we just never have.

Good question Deanstud,

I have not joined any B-body organizations other than the [Free] PSSST and posting here for free. I got my Caprice two years ago and there were more people & activities then; lately we have seen a few new Impala SS owners showing up but some of the old timers have been lurking. It is tough to get enough people involved to make a gathering. Most members did show for a PSSST dinner with Ed Runnion during his trip here & several for the Super Chevy Show at Pacific Raceway [old SIR]. I am hoping we can have a MOD DAY which we are trying to arrange now. Oregon has Impala SS & Caprice owners but they are spread thin over a wide geographical range just like us up here in the Seattle area. People are living busy lives too and sometimes I even have to answer my own emails at our Yahoo Group email because so few people have been taking the time to send emails. I think many people took vacations to see family this year where as last year more guys took their cars to the race track. I was hoping to do some 1/4 mile racing this year but it is almost too late; I did go to two auto cross events. At one I drove my car and it was the only B-body to show. One other auto X had three PSSST members show but only Larry Walker raced his Corvette. I got the big Mods done to my car this year and just have medium ones to complete; so next year I plan to get much more track time under my belt. For the most part PSSST members show their cars and do not race.

Well, keep beating the bushes down there and it will eventually drive them out into the open... You guys are also automatically invited to everything up here [cause I say so]

I'll put my two cents in here and say that you're more than welcome to whatever we have going on up here. I've been hanging with PSSST for only a year and gone to only a few outings (due to having 4 kids) but the ones I've been to have been a blast. We are pretty loose group up here and George does a good job taking the lead getting us talking/meeting with each other. It does seem to get pretty quiet when bad weather sets in which will be soon!

I joined ISSCA two months ago mainly to get the magazine that is published bimonthly. Its worth to annual membership itself! There are other perks but thats my main reason.

hey dean, shouldn't you have to remit 5x the membership? oh wait, that'd mean i'd have to send in twice....i have always thought that by joining ISSCA we were suppoting the whole community and they in turn support us(as well as a couple perks for ourselves) and by getting involved with the local folks is where we get the bulk of fun for ourselves. most ISSCA events are too far away for me to attend but that still doesn't stop me from trying to gather enough folks for our local club to get chartered. glad to have you aboard and good luck locally. oh , good luck with the autoholics anonymous meetings too! rock on, rus
