Greetings All ISSCA Region #8 (IN, KY & OH) Members
As you know, I have decided NOT to seek re-election due to my duties at work, as the President of the IndipalaSS and as the President of my Homeowner's Association.
Fortunately, we have two outstanding candidates for the ISSCA Board of Directors representing our region. They are Dodie Sheffield - IndipalaSS Secretary & founding member and Dave Breiner - OASIS and IndipalaSS member. I have included a statement from both candidates below.
Ballots are already in the mail and many of you may have already received them. Please exercise your franchise and support ISSCA.
ISSCA Director Nominations - Candidates Statements:
Dodie Sheffield -
ISSCA Region 8 members:
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Dodie Sheffield from Indianapolis, Indiana. I am honored to have been nominated for an ISSCA Regional Director position for Region 8 and understand that the ballots may be going out soon.
My husband, Phillip, and I have been involved in "the Impala SS thing" for a long time, dating back to 1995 when we purchased our Impala from a dealership in Indianapolis. It was supposed to be MY daily driver, but I'm sure you know how that often goes! We began to take it to car shows, started winning trophies, and suddenly, it wasn't my daily driver anymore.
We won several awards at the Indy Super Show and various national/regional Impala SS shows with our 95 before we sold it in 2000. (It was a tough decision, but we were to the point with the car where it just wasn't that much fun. Low miles. Stock car. Just couldn't bring ourselves to modify it because it was "too perfect." No nicks. No scratches. Too many worries.) Besides, we had become a two B-Body family in 1999, when we purchased a 1995 DCM Caprice station wagon. It already had the miles and the scratches and dings. We SS'd it and have been having fun with it ever since. (I will have to admit though that we do still hold the "first option to buy" should the current owner ever decide to sell the 95 SS.)
From a local organizational standpoint, in 1998, Phillip and I were two of the founding members of IndipalaSS, the Indiana Impala SS enthusiast club. For the first two years, I served as the club's secretary and treasurer, while writing and publishing a bi-monthly newsletter for the group and creating and managing the club's first website. In 2000, I was re-elected to the IndipalaSS Board as Secretary. This role requires that I maintain a membership spreadsheet for over 80 members and create mailing labels for our club's bi-monthly newsletters. I am also a frequent contributor to that newsletter. I also coordinate the twice-yearly ordering and distribution of logo clothing for IndipalaSS. (My term will end in early 2004 and I will be stepping down as Secretary after 4 ½ years of service to the local club.)
We have been involved in the national level of Impala SS enthusiasts from the days of the early Bowling Green Impalapalooza shows and I was present at the meeting of Impala SS leader's at I2K in St. Louis in 2000 where the idea for ISSCA was born. I am an ISSCA-certified judge and served in that capacity at I2K2 and this year's inaugural ISSCA Nationals in Tulsa, OK.
Let me assure you that I came by this car thing genetically and have been interested and involved with cars all of my life, even prior to my marriage. My parents raised me with an appreciation of American-made V8 vehicles. (Dad was a GM employee.) My own personal "toy" is a 2002 Camaro SS 35th Anniversary convertible that was one of the 45 2001 Brickyard 400 track cars.
I will represent our region to the best of my ability and believe in ISSCA's "By the members...For the members" credo. I will call upon my local organizational experience when making decisions for the national organization. I promise to actually attend the ISSCA BOD meetings as required and will be an active voice in all discussions. I know the cars and know the people. I would appreciate your vote.
Dave Breiner -
Dear ISSCA Region 8 members and Fellow B-body Enthusiasts, I have been nominated for the position of ISSCA Director Region 8, and seek the position this fall during scheduled elections. We have come a long way in the short time ISSCA has been in existence, but we have far to travel.
While our Board of Directors have done a fine job in getting ISSCA to where we are, the journey is far from over. We have viable clubs in OH,IN and KY but need to grow. There is a need out there for fellow enthusiasts to come together as one entity in the car hobby. My vision is for that umbrella be extended within our region to encompass more ImpalaSS and B-Body brethren within our ranks. The clubs that we have now, some parts are fragmented and not functioning properly.
For example, I pledge to help OASIS to re group the Southern Region of OH and have car functions and club sponsored events again. Two years is too long to go with out any activity from the south. As I have traveled this summer to compete in the Super Chevy Shows, ISSCA Nationals and various other local and regional shows I have been overwhelmed with requests to tell people where they can contact a local club in OH ,IN and KY. I pledge to assist ALL the ISSCA chartered clubs in OH,IN and KY and
get us up and running with the big dogs nationally. Come join with me and Dale Daily and John Yoder from OASIS, Dave Bass from IndipalaSS and Chris Holtzclaw from KISS to bring Region 8 to prominence in ISSCA.
That is my pledge to you. I need a pledge from you as well. If you share my vision for the future, if you share my passion and commitment to Region 8 and ISSCA, I wish to ask you to vote in the affirmative for me when you receive your ballot in the mail.
ThankSS For Your Consideration ,
Dave "Big Dog" Breiner a.k.a. Roktman
