I thought I would change the tone from "I got screwed" to "Well, lets try to fix it"

I am going to throw out an idea and see what you all think about it. Other ideas are more than welcome but there is another home for the "I got screwed posts"

That being said...

When I used to race RC cars back a few years ago (dont laugh, you can do crazy stuff with them that you wouldnt dare do with a real car). We had different classes based on car type and motor type. I often was in a race class that had less than the minimum 5 people for awarding trophys so here is what we came up with:

With classes of 3, one trophy was awarded, two trophy plates were awarded. For classes of 5, two trophys were awarded, one plate. and for 7 in a class, first, second and third all got full trophys

Those that were awarded plates had the option of paying for the trophy to mount it on so that the expense of the trophy was theirs and the events were not going to loose money.

I dont believe in not awarding anything to second and third just because there arent enough cars in the field or whatever.

However, classes of 1-2 cars should probably be bumped into another class at the owners choice. (I dont think year should much have anything to do with it, as mileage is a bigger factor than anything else)

Any comments or other ideas?

This is not to be critical of Grail or ISSCA, they put on a wonderful event but in light of the aftermath of the car car show... I felt it would be nice to open it up to suggestions

I use to help put on a few Martial Arts tournments and we had to buy trophies or plaques and we always came up with a few extra because some division were small, and that what it sounds like the promotors don't want. So anyway we would make up new division or give competitors that we felt should of recieved a trophy for there effort. At one time it snowed and alot of people decided not to travel,we had enough to add a 4th place to most divisions. And if we still had some left over we would have a small dojo tournment for the kids.

Just to make a joke... My Black Belt Impala could whup your Impala's ass... mantis style =P

You are right though, they dont want extra trophys... hell they could order up a set of generic plates and award those, then place the order for the trophys for those who get them free, or would like to pay for them

Ya whats this crap anyway. You see all those rice events and the overdressed women (bikini's) why do they get all the skin? I would force myself to be the second member on the panel of judges and would even sacrafice that position to lower myself to be to official to hose down wet T shirt contest girls. Oh the things one must do to be of public service!
