Hey Mike, That is exactly how they do the Winston Cup. The real Winston Cup is on display in Daytona and has the names of all the winners engraved on it. Then there are numerous replicas made for the winner and others.
Your idea is how we wanted to do the Bulkhead Cup, (for the ECIRS Championship), but found out that it cost money to do that, and $200 for a trophy is enough to spend already.
I like your BOI trophy idea. Keep up the good work guys.
here in Detroit, we had the Stanley Cup for a few years, by we, i mean the Red Wings. and that is the real deal, you can drink beer out of it, take it to strip joints, that thing has been everywhere! no offence to the winston cup. thats not named after cigarettes is it?
I guess there is no reverence toward the Lord Stanely Cup, (no offence to any hockey fans). But as for the Winston Cup, it is looked upon with reverence. That could be why only replicas are allowed in the hands of the public. <g>
Stanley Cup, Winston Cup, whatever. They both serve their purpose for their sport. Red Wings = Octopus-squid & hockey pucks.
WC Racing = cigarettes-beer & 700hp small block chevys.

There was plenty of reverence here in Boston when former-Bruin Ray Bourque brought back the Stanley Cup after winning it by playing for the Colorado Avalanche... I was one of the 14,000+ at the rally for him and the Cup.
