Just wanted to say I had a great time and got to meet a lot of people. In my opinion this was the best Impalafest to date. The weather was much cooler than the previous years and everything seemed very well organized and things went on schedule. Great job team HOSS!

Here are some tidbits from my experience. I left the house at 5:30 am Saturday to get to the show. About a 1/4 mile from the GM plant I notice my temp gauge was pegged Pulled over to take a look and water was boiling over my overflow tank. It was still pitch dark and I'm glad I brought a flashlight and tools. I check the fuse on my switch and it was still good. I then checked the relay and all my wires looked good. I tapped on it a couple times and my pump came back on. It is scary that a $10 part could take out your motor! Got to the show and got a donor relay from a generous Impala owner. I am SO sorry I cannot remember who gave it to me, please refresh my memory, I owe you big time!!! (I am terrible with names and I was still really tired).

The show was fun and the participant judging was cool too. I do not think that anyone had any problems with the results. I was lucky enough to take home a first place trophy.

Drag racing was a blast too. The weather was a bit hot for blistering ET's but we were all in the same boat. I almost brought home a trophy in the bracket race but settled for forth. Shucks. John Rafteseh commented on how good my car sounded... man that meant a lot coming from him. Thanks John!

I didn't get home until 1 AM Saturday night and I was too tired to remove my airbags and swap springs and tires for the autocross. I just went Sunday and watched the others cars run. It was a good time.

I had an absolute blast and am looking forward to next year. The HOSS guys and gals will have to work overtime to tops this year’s event.

What a great weekend!

I had a great time too. The weather was much better than the previous years. It was great to see so many old friends from across the country.

Hey Andy, you do know you won a trophy for drag racing, right? And Big John was right, your car sounds AWESOME! It was great to meet you.

And I put a lot more faces to forum names this year than last. Maybe because forum membership has quadrupled since last year

It was a great National Event!

What, I won a trophy? I thought I was out. Guess I should have hung out longer but it was past my bedtime Nice to meet you too Cheston, see you out at Hallsville when the weather cools down.

Hay Gang. Sounds like the event went over well. How did everyone do? What were the drag racing details?

Karl,
starving for news.

Not much to report Karl. The weather was still a bit warm to break into any new ground. The best I could muster was a 12.96 and that was hitting the rev limiter shifting 2-3. Tranny was giving me fits all night. Ran two 13.0's. John made one nitrous pass and ran a mid 11 running VERY rich. Robert Gulley ran a best of 11.7x. Had a great time, just wish it was a bit cooler and my tranny would shift right Hope to see you at an Impalafest soon

Thanks Andy,
Hey, that 12.96 of yours beats my 12.97 @ 107 from this past friday with my 383. (motor seems to be running fine, but forgot my SSRI duct and short shifted and 99% humidity).
I will be at the ImpalaFest 2002! Hope to bracket race with the best of them.

Wow, the show was great! Do I remember correctly that in 2000 the drag racing and autocross both happened Sunday morning? Well anyway, it was great to see the drags at night! John ran 11.72 in the one pass of his I saw. He said afterwards that the big cloud of black smoke was because he ran too rich -- and that he COASTED the last 1000 feet (I think that's the number he said). Wow!

So yeah, the show was awesome. I got to talk to a few new people and a bunch of ones I'd met before, check out a bunch of cars (thanks G Man ) and generally just have a good time. The only complaint I have is about the quality (or lack thereof) of highway signs in Texas.

And I agree with the post above: 2002 is going to have to be INCREDIBLE to top this year!

Thanks a lot everyone, I had a great time.

Other than the cigar breaks in between,
it was ALL WORK and NO PLAY for the crew that put on the event.
BUT the work was well worth it, while watching attendees have a VERY fun ImpalaFest weekend.
Weather it was for a good while or short period of time, I got to meet more cool folks, from all over the place, like the crew from the Gulf Coast Impala club<hope I said that right> But ya'll are a very cool bunch One attendee that I met, flew in from Alaska! Hope his trip was well worth it. Got a chance to meet Mike and his lady from No Limits Motorsports. Met Andrew Stewart, what's up, man! What's up Vader! Oops. I know this ain't the "shout out" section of the forums, so I'll quit It was also a great pleasure to meet I2K2's own Carla and Jose. Very cool couple. Good to see Tully and Ed from Cali, as well. As always, it was great to see all of HOSS's next door Impala neighbors, HAIL, HOTSS, and SAIL, as well as the COIL crew. From the folks that help make ImpalaFest 2001 a success once again, to the attendees, it's all a group effort from all of us and HOSS really appreciate the support. And you can bet ImpalaFest 2002 will be in full swing next September.
See ya'll at Impalapalouis "2" in June!
