Question about 1994 LT1 EGR Valve

Hello gentlemen, I'll make this quick...

Today I replaced my wagon's LT1 EGR Valve after many years of "code 32" showing up after sporadic SES light appearances. The old one was pretty clogged and the diaphragm was barely movable at all. The new one was shiny, very smooth, and relatively easy to install with the right tools and a rearview mirror...

However, there's one problem - now my idle is really rough! Everything is hooked up correctly, and connecting/disconnecting the top vacuum line literally does nothing when it was running in my garage. What other things should I be on the lookout for? It drove perfectly smooth and fine, just idles like a diesel now.

1st thought:
Your EGR has been disabled in the PCM. When it wasn't working, all was as expected.
Obviously, that thought is WRONG.

2nd thought:
the EGR passage[s] [possibly including the ones in the manifold] is[/are] encrustified?

I looked into most/all of the lines going into the manifold; they all seem fine. I read something on the F-body forums talking about a negative pressure EGR versus a positive pressure... the old one I have in my hand has an "N" stamp on it and the new one I put on has a P stamped on it! Now I'm worried if I got a bit mislead on eBay.

Wish I could just disable the thing altogether, but the idle was still really really bad even with the top vacuum line unplugged.
