So I'm going to do my best to describe the location.Plz bear with me. This hose is connected at one end to I believe something that has to do w transmission fluid.I say that because it seems to be leaking it. I could be wrong about that it.That could be an entirely different issue. It just seems that way also because in the middle of this hose is very torn up. Anyway so that pic is the end of the hose. The loose unconnected end is tucked up into the frame on the front to middle pass.side. I took the pic kneeling near the back of the front pass tire.Gosh I hope someone can tell me what that hose is and if it's supposed to be connected to something. I know it's not a lot of detailed information but I'm hoping at least someone might have an idea.
I believe you're describing the transmission case air vent - rubber, vanishes into the upper center of the case just where the body flares larger for the TC, loose end usually stuck in a random hole in the frame. No service but you can run a wire up a couple inches to check clear.
If it "seems to be leaking" just taste it to confirm if just trans fluid or something else..
EDIT: Noticed grandpa's post. If coming down right at firewall, then slight chance it's A/C drip. But it would likely be the size of a 1/2" garden hose. If further aft closer to cx-member and the size of a gasline or vacuum hose, then it's tranny vent.
It has a split three way, that goes different directions. I hope I'm saying that correctly.I appreciate you taking time to try to help me. I'm doing my best to learn as much as I can about cars and especially this one.
I'm with Black on this 1 and based on your first post, would say it's the Trans Vent hose. On the Top of the Trans case is a Metal Vent Tube that comes out about an inch or so. A Rubber hose attaches to it, drops down to the trans Crossmember and then comes across the x-member to the Pass side of the frame where it just lays there. IIRC - There are to Plastic clamps on the x-member that secure the hose as it goes over to the frame.
But now I'm confused by your last post. what you just described with the 3 Way connection (a Tee?) and hose going nowhere almost "sounds" like the vent Hose for the Charcoal Canister but that's up front in the fender area.
I have a better idea instead of us all guessing. Do you have the ability to get the car on a lift or at least up on some ramps? If so, get under the car and follow the hose back and see where it is coming from. then you and all of us will have a much better idea of what this mystery hose could be. If not, take it to a Garage for some service - oil change, inspection, brakes, whatever...and ask them if they can tell you what it is or where it is coming from.
My money is on trans vent hose based soley on your 1st post.

Yes, the T and valve is a relief valve in case the hose gets clogged somehow. The transmission has to breathe quite a bit and you don't want to suck up dirt into it so the long pipe allows dirt to fall out of the air stream before it gets to the transmission. Never ever run without this vent hose in place.
Mr 96 Black your awesome....Thanks . I think u may be right. You always seem to be able to help if not at least point me into the right direction no matter how vague my discriptions are.So thank you. That being said if that is the hose in question it looks like it is leaking tf.Is that possible? Or maybe possibly it's just running off there from the leak else where? I put in on ramps but its really hard to see the part of the hose that continues to the middle and up somewhere.I'm unable to reach it either way bottom or top. There's a tf leak somewhere and seems to at least run off that hose if not from it.I can't afford a mechanic at the moment . They tend to rip me off here in Vegas(lol).I sure do appreciate all yalls responses and help though. This is the best forum for sure.Thank you,AERON
Oh Bob, you da man!! :wink2: Notice too "all Y'alls". , Aeron, let's hope it's not too serious. Stay around long enough and you too will be turning wrench for yourself.
Well I appreciate everyone's responses. I know the basics every woman should know. I'm definitely learning a lot from this forum and all of you gentleman.Again thank you all for being patient with me and my posts and taking time to educate me. ?
Any recent trans. fill activity?
If overfilled it'll leak out vent, or if trans. is overheated it'll leak out vent sometimes as well.
